Low mileage owners, question?
So, I got my 427 vert back in November. This is number seven for me, but only the second that is not a daily driver. I feel like with winter, being busy etc, I never drive it. Today was one of those rare days here. Absolutely beautifull weather predicted, and I had two meetings setup far away from each other. I decided to take the vette to get some nice top down cruising in on a rare weekday.
So, driving home, I made an effort to actually look at my odometer. I am at 54xx miles already. So the question begs, how the hell do you guys own one of these and put soo little mileage on them? I thought mine was going to be one of those "low mileage cars" but its not even close.

For me it seems each consecutive year I drive mine a little less. I have only put on about 1500 miles this year so far. Like you, after I first got mine I couldn't drive it enough, but after I have driven the same roads a thousand times it gets a little boring.

I've got almost 2000 miles on my 427 since the middle of May. Next month I plan to dive it from Indiana to Florida for a week. I love driving it.

To me, this cars are meant to be driven. So, I drive mine.
When I graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course (Q-Course), we all received the coveted Yarborough Knife. The Yarborough was designed by knife maker Bill Harsey and manufactured in Chris Reeve's facilities. Anyway, the knives are serial numbered (non-serial numbered ones are available to the public). A lot of my fellow graduates put their knives in display boxes and these never saw a combat zone.
I used gun camouflage paint to paint the handle and took mine to Afghanistan every time I deployed there. That's why those things were built.
I am going to actually drive my C6. I'll take care of it, maintenance and all. But, I'm driving that thing.

come on guys they are just cars. This is my first one and I love it. I am very lucky to own one in this tough economy. I worked hard to get it and I enjoy it almost every day. I bought the car with 4223 miles and drive it all the time. I will be proud the day I hit 100k on it. If you chose to not drive it I understand but the car was made to be driven and enjoyed. The more I drive mine the more I love it.

600,000+ thousand miles in Corvettes over the past 23 years...
Two months ago this coming Friday (8/16/13) I bought a Ferrari and now have 5,000 miles on it...
...drove both it AND the Vette today.... life's too short to not drive your cars.

I have my GS for 22 months. I think there's about 6,500 on it . That includes the trip home from MacMulkin and 2 trips to Maine. I only drive mine from April 15 till Dec 1 each year. Hopefully, I can drive it more in the future since a bought this one to travel in.

This is like a monthly topic..... why does it matter to you? Really, seriously, why does it matter how much people drive or don't drive their cars. There a hundreds of reasons a person may not be able to drive their car or want to drive their car.
I'm glad you drive yours, I really am but I guarentee if you walked in my shoes you would fully understand why I don't drive mine.
Point being yours is yours, ours is ours and unless your going to buy it from us to claim as yours it shouldn't matter what we do or don't do with our cars.

same here. I average 3000 miles a year or less. My 2008 when I traded it had just a little over 14000 miles on it after owning it 5.5 years. I really never find much time to drive it except on my days off and my car sits all winter from December through March with only about 5 drives around the block in winter on nice days to keep things lubed up and the tires moved to keep them from getting flat spots. My 2013 has 2200 miles on it now and I have had it since late March of this year and 400 of the miles were from driving it back from the out of state dealer.

I'm the 3rd owner of my car. This is how the mileage breaks down per owner:
Owner 1 - Owned the car 20 months and put 1,350 miles on it. Average of 67.5 miles per month.
Owner 2 - Owned the car 56 months and put 6,850 miles on it. Average of 122.3 miles per month.
Owner 3 (me) - Have owned the car 3 months and put 2,800 miles on it. Average of 933.3 miles per month.
Based on what the car is used to; I have put about three years worth of miles on the car in 3 months.
Just like Harleys, sometimes Vettes become more of a garage decoration than anything else.

With all due respect, both of you guys are friggin crazy.
Drive the thing, have fun...it's only a chevy for crying out loud!
On second thought...don't ever drive it again...I'll be looking for a garage queen when I wear my engine out from too many road trips and miles.
