Hoooooly sh........! Glad you're okay! The good news is once the other driver is apprehended, you'll be able to pick any new car you like. Throw the book at that f**ker, you've got him by his *****, and you can reject any insurance settlement until you're satisfied.

Screw the Vette, it can be replaced....The ONLY thing that matters is that you're still alive, and I for one am glad for that.

I am glad you survived this horrendous experience.
As a specialist in Critical Care Medicine, I cannot overstate the importance of appropriate medical evaluation in these circumstances-PARTICULARLY if there was a loss of consciousness. It is commonplace to see a delay in neurological signs and symptoms following significant trauma to the Central Nervous System and cervical spine.
I assume you were evaluated in an ER? Did you have cranial and cervical spine x-rays? Were you evaluated only by the ER doc, or were you seen by a neurologist, as well?
Should you have any questions, concerns or doubts, do not hesitate to ask.

Glad you are ok. As a new Corvette owner I find it pretty dramatic to see the pic of the drivers door cracked and broken in the middle - clearly shows that those body panels really are "plastic" and not steel. You are a lucky guy. Craig

When you get insurance on a used car, they always ask if it's modified in any way. I wonder if your insurance company will honor the modifications if you didn't declare them after they were installed? If they don't recognize the parts, the salvage price should be very low as badly damaged as it is. Those who buy wrecks always look to see what parts are salvageable and most of those people would also recognize the value of your parts. What a dilemma you're facing. But, as others have said, "Your kids have a daddy and your wife a husband!" Thank God for that one, a split second earlier hit might have been a head on!

Crow - sorry to hear about this (and the pics are awful). Get healed up.

Hopefully the tool that hit you will be found and prosecuted.

Glad to hear that you were not seriously hurt. If your insurance company dose total the car you will have the opportunity to buy the car back from the insurance company and a very low price. You can then salvage whatever is not damaged and use or sell the parts. You will be surprised how little the insurance company will sell you the car back.

a few thoughts come to mind like, glad you are ok or at least recovering. I'd also follow the advice of Steel Curtain. I also think that your wife may not understand: it's the roll cage that most likely helped. most OTHER cars, no one puts a roll cage in. so what car does she think will help you out if there is ever a "next time?" which I hope there is not, of course.

finally, I hope you have, as one poster on page 1 said, talked to all your friends who have called you and said, "go look for that truck, it's got significant damage, too." the police will do relatively little other than to put out a bulletin to repair shops. being in/near country, lots of folks "repair" vehicles in their garage, have whole paint booths, some even w. downdraft setups.

good luck, heal, take your time, be well, and remember the family. and talk to every friend, business associate, business acquaintance, and relative to keep looking for you, on your behalf.

this person is a true menace to society, proven by what s/he did to you with no regard for your life, or the law.

Im glad to see that you are okay. I agree the car can be replaced, you cant! The added insurance of that roll cage did its job 100%! What cage is that in your car? Jay

At the ER they put me in that x-ray tube and looked at my head and spine. They also did an ultra sound on my stomach. Today I felt like 5 miles of bad road, my urin was red coolaid color and my head felt like I went five rounds with Mike Tyson. The pics show the cage stopped the truck from pushing into the car. The initial findings on the car show it is body damage and rear suspension.
