I just went on a little drive of 7,176 miles between 7/14 and 7/30.

From home in MA, through CT, NY, PA, OH, IN, IL, IA, NE, WY, UT & NV to Woodland, CA (just north of Sacramento) to visit friends (75 hours total elapsed time); then to San Diego, CA to meet up with wife who flew there for a week; then to cousin's ranch in Willcox, AZ.

Then, AZ, NM, TX, AR, TN, KY, WV, MD, PA, NY, CT & MA. (left AZ on Sunday & arrived home 10PM on Tuesday)

Dayum! That's a serious extended road trip!
I always look forward to driving my car. It's always a mood enhancer for me.

That was this C6's 3rd road to west coast, 1 to Wisconsin, 2 to Bowling Green, 2 to Florida; the rest of the trips were 1,000 miles. Now reading 74,774 miles on odometer.

You win!!!

Last year, I wanted to visit my son, who is a flight instructor at the U.S.A.F. Academy in Colorado Springs, Co. I drove from South Florida, to Colorado Springs, all around the Rocky Mountains, and then back to Florida. It was 4,475 miles round trip, and I thought that was sumthin'.

Apparently not.

I don't know about winning. I'm sure there are others with impressive road trips.

Driving my Corvette has always been a blast. I only drive it on the track (road courses) now so it's even more "invigorating" than when I drove it on the street.

When I turned 50, I really felt good, because I was sooooo l(.)(.)king forward to retiring at age 53.

When I turned 60, it felt good, because I was going to finally recover that F.I.C.A. money that I paid in all those years.

But I gotta tell ya, a few months ago I turned 70, and it didn't feel good. When you're in your 50s, and 60s, you're referred too as a senior citizen. In your 70s you're referred to as elderly, or geriatric. A little depressing.

However, I can still throw a pretty damn good 6k shift, I have my health, a great wife, a very nice, fully paid for house, financial security, and, I have been fully retired for 17 years now, and that's a real blessing!

All I gotta do is wrap my *** in fiberglass, and , I'm feeling all young again. By the way, I'm still lookin' for the old guys with gold chains, etc. that meet the criteria that seems so popular with our young detractors these days. So far I haven't met one.

In a few years, when my grandson graduates college, I'm giving him my 2013 Grand Sport, an I'll buy a new C7. Life is good, even at my age!

Mine will start getting long road trips starting next summer. Need to stay close to home for the moment.
