Default Corvette Logo GS Caliper Fading...replaced with decals

Just purchased a 2012 GS and one of the front Corvette logo is fading on the caliper. I know there are some decals out there to replace. I am wondering if anyone has removed the logo completely and how they did it. I am a bit afraid of using a chemical for fear of the silver paint on the caliper. Anyone have this happen and have a solution. Thanks for the help!

Is it just the Corvette lettering on the caliper? On my 08, the whole caliber faded out. I just painted them and used light sandpaper on the lettering to remove the paint (heard after the fact that someone used vasoline on the lettering before painting them). Been over 1 1/2 now and they look like the day I did it.

Don't know if my explanation is related to your issue or not.

I have a 2012 GS and had work done on the front brakes, the mechanic apparently smudged the caliper when taking off/putting on the caliper and the paint was faded. The dealer replaced the caliper.

The faint paint on yours may indicate recent brake repair/replacement...or not.

Figured I'd share FWIW.

My '09 has gray calipers and the letters in the logo appear to be just ground away flat and sort of polished. You might consider just sanding the paint off the tops of the letters and see how it looks with no paint at all on the letters.

You can't completely remove the logo though ... it stands away from the caliper surface about an eighth of an inch and that would require lots of grinding and would look pretty bad when you did that.

It's pretty easy to get rid of the logo. I did it with brake cleaner ( not on purpose). I had to repaint and re clear mine. I can't tell you where I got my logo decals from, but I will say that if you send them to Mike the Powdercoater they will look like new.

I see what the OP meant when he talked about removing the lettering entirely. Mine are raised above the surface; yours and apparently his are not (on the Z06 and GS?).

Are the letters just decals?

Actually, they are painted on. So guess what ? Brake cleaner removes paint. Hence me having to repaint my calipers. I should really take a pic of the repainted calipers. I think I did a good job.

This is possible...wasn't sure but thought it was some type of chemical that caused the fade. Thanks!

Ah! I totally forgot about the painted logo. Like yours RocketDawg, mine are raised as well. I prefer mine over the painted logo's...

This looks very similar to the one on my GS. I would like to just take the logo off completely. Then look for some decals. Any idea what to use to use to remove the logo paint without messing up the silver paint on the caliper.

No real comments on this lately. I am going to attempt to remove the logo completely. I have received some logos from an EBay seller. They look pretty good. I will report back tomorrow on results.

Bought these.

Pretty good? They look very good. I just ordered two sets so I have them and will probably put them over the painted ones that are on my '13 GS factory red calipers now. They are nice and bright and stand out more than the factory painted ones. Thanks for the link. BTW mine are starting to fade on a couple of letters here and there so this is a great find as I know from past experiences that vinyl lettering on calipers hold up very well and always look good. This is my '07 Miata after 4yrs. Looks as good as the day I put them on.

Here are the new decals replacing the faded logo. I used carb cleaner to totally remove the old ones. They look good. I will probably replace the other ones. Hope this helps someone.
