I have been searching to see which battery most of you like. My battery in my 08 bit the dust. Should I go with another AC Delco or something else?
Thank for your info in advance

Hi Lisa, make sure you check the dimensions of the replacement battery, if you choose not to go with OEM! Most are 1" taller, making it a pain to get at the cabin filter!

I replaced the battery on my 2008 a few months ago. I decided since the original lasted 5+ years and never really gave me a problem to replace it with another AC Delco. No reason to search for something possibly better.

I went with the Optima Yellow Top. I like the idea of a AGM battery. ( corrected from gel )
I have had Red Top in my SUV for the past 10 years/100,000 miles and am running a 60 amp draw RF amp on it too.
The single battery takes care of all my needs.
I keep on thinking it is time to replace but am now interested in seeing just how long this Red Top will last.
I will say though that this 96 4 Runner is the most reliable car I have ever owned. I am still on the original rotors/pads and coming up on 200,000 miles. One thing had broken the exhaust manifold cracked at 125,000 miles and I understand it is pretty common fault of the 4 cylinder motor. Otherwise just general tire and fluid changes. I guess I can think that the car is easy on batteries too!

Not really thinking about a Optima has an option. They seem to be expensive and some have posted problems but I do appreciate you replying
Thanks

I just called the dealership about ordering a battery and they said now the Delco is a 36 month battery?? I couldn't ever get home to give me a price. Stated that he doesn't usually deal with batteries so he doesn't know the price and it would take him a few weeks to get one in
I hate calling them!! They always make me feel like I am interrupting something more important.

I replaced the battery in my 07 and shopped intently for the best deal. Get this, my dealer installed a Delco for less than I could buy one at Autozone. Go figure. Worked out great because I am kind of **** and like to keep it stock looking under the hood. I am positive my warranty is more than 36 months. You need to find a new dealer.

It's going on the shelf to make room for a battery actually worth a crap, ie Odyssey.

Someone in another thread said the super high CCA batteries can be less reliable than a standard battery because they pack more plates in same size housing to get higher CCA. He went on to say this can lead to issues with vibration/shock causing battery failures vs a standard battery. I don't know if that's true be it sounds possible.
The General knows what your car needs.
Good luck.

Not cheap, but I am a big fan of Odyssey batteries. I had one that lasted 8 years and was moved from a car I sold to another I bought and was still going strong when that one was sold.

Optima Red Top and Yellow Top batteries are not a gel or gel cell battery. They are absorbent glass mat (AGM) batteries. AGM and gel or gel cell batteries are in the group referred to as valve-regulated lead–acid (VRLA) batteries. AGM batteries differ from flooded lead acid batteries in that the electrolyte is held in the glass mats, as opposed to freely flooding the plates. AGM batteries are much less likely to leak than flooded lead acid batteries. However, should the case of an AGM battery become cracked, they can sometimes leak a little from the acid that seeps from the glass mats. See following links:

Thanks for the correction.
I knew this at one time and didn't think before posting. I made the correct decision for myself at any rate. Just getting old so things can get crossed up sometimes.
Either way I wanted a more leak proof battery with good power.
