Default 300 Mile Impressions of 13 Grand Sport

Hey all now that the Carfax fiasco is behind me I am ready to share my thoughts on the 2013 Grandsport 2LT for the first 300 miles.

This is my 3rd C6 the previous two both 05 Z51's.........

.......that being said. the 13 Grandsport feels much different. The transmission is leaps and bounds better than the 05. Its not notchy and just feels very tight.

The seats are much better and the shiny black in middle console is much better than the drab silver plastic the 05's had.

The stereo seems better than the 05's. The 05's were both 3LT's and the 13 is a 2LT.

I have yet to take the 13 past 4k rpms so I cannot quite judge yet if it performs different etc. I can comment that the Grandsport has lot less bodyroll and just seems glued to ground. Obviously I don't track cars and haven't gone over 4k rpms I can just tell based on some exit ramps etc I take frequently where the Grandsport just flows.

Now what can I say about the upgrades to the appearance. The Grandsport is just a beast and has some timeless styling. With wide body, aggressive stance, it will hold up against the C7's until the "wide" model C7's come out. Driving it home from MacMulkin I must of received 15 thumbs up etc and stares. That Cyber Gray with black badges and black wheels is quite the mean looking vehicle. The Silver one I almost picked to me is sexy, the Cyber Gray setup I got simply looks mean and nasty.

Ill save sexy for the C7, this C6 is going for the mean and nasty look.

Also the intangible feeling of "badass" driving it. You don't have to race or speed around. As mentioned I have yet to go over 4k rpms. The car evokes a feeling of owning the road. Hard to explain and this is coming from someone who drove a C6.

All in all even though next gen vette with a VASTLY superior interior in every way, I couldn't be more please with the car I got for the price. NOTHING out there touches this. Nothing. My brother has a fully loaded 2013 370z he got for around same price I ended up getting the 13 for. Even though the 370z has a much more technologically advanced interior etc, the Vette to me is a much superior machine. It makes the 370 look downright bloated and fat. Who needs rev matching, I sure don't!

Grandsport feels like a different car than the 05 Z51's.

now the negatives so far.....

No garage door opener on 2LT? Really downright ridiculous to me.

No OnStar compatibility with the Android/iPhone App. That to me is ridiculous when the 15k Cruz is compatible. Zero excuse for this.

Was surprised to see the exact Nav as the 05's. Compared to the 370z Nav its like comparing modern HDTV to old TV's from the 80's.

Brake dust seems WORSE than the 05's!

Those are my gripes and it doesn't sway me a bit from feeling I made the right choice in the car I bought. None whatsoever.

I love this car and am DYING to get past that 1500 mile break in!

Thanks for reading and remember if I see you IM WAVING!

MY 2013 JUST PASSED 3000 miles today..be careful with the LS3 since you're coming from an LS2. The power comes on very inconspicuously and before you know it,you're sideways!! I also find it utterly ridculous that my 60+ car does not have voice commands to change the stations or streaming music capabilities...however,I guess their reasoning is that it's the generation that's on the way out so why bother... Enjoy the new ride and congrats! 1500 break in??No No,500!!

Go get an alignment, per Pfadt's performance street specs. You're pocketbook will thank you. The GS factory alignment is set up for track use, and EATS TIRES. Ask me how I know!

You're talking about 35 hp, its not like he is coming from a Geo.

OP, I'm glad you like your 13' but HP wise, I doubt if you will notice too much difference. You will probably notice more in the handling than in pure HP. Enjoy the new ride, the GS is definitely a sweet looking car.

I bought a 12 GS with only 1K on it a couple months ago. Love it, great car. Mines cyber, 3LT W/silver fender badges and chrome GS wheels. I agree on all the tech short coming points that you and others mention; BUT when I really look at it; IT'S the performance that we all love and for a car that can be you everday driver it can't be beat. DEFINITELY GET RID OF THE TRACK ALIGNMENT - unless you plan on tracking it. My fronts were showing some REAL wear at 3K without ANY hard driving. Got street align; no signs of any excessive edge wear. Your wallet will thank you!!

After you get an alignment...Have you thought about some front splash guards? Those big meats are going to throw a lot of debris toward your rear brake ducts.

There is a world of performance difference between the LS2 and the LS3.

This is an absolute MUST, and the first thing I did with my '13 GS...and it STILL gets debirs down the side somewhat.

wake up your dreaming. Just like there is little diff from the C5 to the C6. Not that noticeable if you drive both.

Congrats OP on a sweet GS.

You can do this yourself though...
