Museum Visit
I was lucky enough to visit the NCM in Bowling Green on Thursday. Let me tell you (for those that have not been) it is a site to behold. The history of these cars is incredible. I was honored to be surrounded by a room full of ZR1's from very early on until now. I was also able to drive over to the factory and look at the plant mgrs. yellow C7. I am still not a fan of the car's looks yet but I am sure it will grow on me. It was the first one I have seen in person and I was hoping it would have changed my mind. Everyone's chief complaint seems to be about the tail lamps on the car. I get that gripe but to me the small window behind the main door windows looks out of place to me. Just my opinion of course but its going to take some time before I actually like the looks of the outside of this new car. Once the plant tours begin I plan on going back with my son in our C6 and see what goes into building the greatest American sports car ever built.

I asked about the plant tours and they just say sometime in the late fall of this year. I tried to pin them down on a time frame but that was the best I could get.
Not sure why this is worthless without pics. I was expressing my feelings on a museum visit and my dislike for the new C7. You can look at all the C7 pics on this forum you want so I dont feel its necessary to post more. There are also numerous threads with pics taken from inside the museum.

No they don't. I inquired as to why and was told that GM has not provided them one yet. That is odd to me. The hype that has been created about this car is ridiculous. You would think they would have one displayed but they do not.

How long do you recommend to put aside to do a proper visit?
Thanks

Sounds like a great time. I haven't had the pleasure of visiting the Museum, but next summer, we are going to the Bridgestone Invitational in Akron, so once the tournament is finished, were heading to Bowling Green on Monday.
How long do you recommend to put aside to do a proper visit?
Thanks

Paul I would allow about 3 hrs. If your like me and want to read everything about the car then 3-4 hrs is good. My wife could have made it in about an hr and 40 minutes would have been spent in the store buying shirts, caps and $300 worth of other stuff. We went in in no rush and finished in less than 3 hrs. If it were me and my son only...easily would have needed at least another hr.

I have been to the museum at least 10 times. Living 45 minutes away makes it easy. Every time I go back I still find something that I missed the previous times.

The museum is a great place to visit - seemsike there is always something new to see and learn about. And hopefully you do go back and take the plant tour - it is a good time seeing how the cars are put together.

I took delivery at the Museum and would encourage anyone, especially a first time Corvette owner, to do the same. BTW, the OP was useful and clear without photos. I can read. Photos are nice and even necessary for some things. Given the hassle of posting them on this site, I don't agree with the criticism from the "... worthless without pictures" gang.

The museum is a great place, no question about it. Not only is it a first-rate facility with first-rate exhibits, it's also run by a first-rate team of people. These folks really care about providing their visitors with a great experience. I've been there many times and every time it's been tough to leave. Can't wait to go again.

I've been to the museum a couple of times, the most recent about 3 years ago, and as a semi-hijack on the thread ... some of the cars on display, particularly the older ones, have terrible paint jobs. Many have cracked paint, etc.
Just wondering why. Couldn't they find pristine ones to put on display?
Not being critical so much ... I really enjoy visiting the place. And it's not all that far from where I live, about 150 miles.

I plan to go to the NCM in the Spring with a couple of other Corvette enthusiasts. One in contemplating getting a museum delivery of a C7 while we're there. Will take in a tour of the assembly plant while we're there as well.
