Default Insurance suggestions..USAA raised me again!

So, with no accidents, no claims, ever, my USAA ins rates keep going up...again today, another $50 every 6 months..

I have my home, 2 autos, and life ins through them...wife and I are both 49 yrs old..

They said my 2013 Grand Sport coupe rates in "my area" (southern Indiana around Louisville) were re-rated...uh huh

They raised both cars the last time for the same reason....I drive 11-12K/yr as my DD.

My homeowner's keep going up too, again, no claims..

I went to Costco/Ameriprise online, and their quote was shockingly much higher...

Suggestions? Anyone? Bueller? Used to have Farm Bureau for years and years until they started jacking rates...switched to USAA 2 yrs ago.

Appreciate the help and guidance in advance.

I went from Allstate to eSurance to USAA in this past year. They all seem to be raising their rates...frustrating.

My wife, who is also my insurance agent, put us with Safeco this year. The Corvette premium was 375.30 a year with a $500 deductible 500k/500k limits. They also saved us money on the home with better coverage.

Hagerty insurance covers my 2002 Thunderbird, so when I got my 2013 GS I inquired about them adding it to my policy. They agreed to insure it as long as was not my primary vehicle. I had to prove we had other vehicles by sending a copy of my standard policy. Since my Vette is a garage queen, I was able to get coverage at a good rate. This may not be a solution for the OP, but if there are other forum members with an older "classic" car and don't drive the Vette much you may save a few $. Also, most insurance companies will provide a discount if you take a defensive driver course.
Good Luck

Your question is really not answerable beyond the name of any particular insurance company because your insurance is based on you,not the person who recommends you use them...start calling around and looking online.

I was with USAA for years and they kept raising my rates, a lot of times for BS reasons. One was too many windshield claims (2), inquired about wheel damage, t-boned being the other driver's fault, hurricanes 2500 miles away from me, reviewed drivers records in Utah, etc, etc. Generally they are like oil investors, looking for any reason they can to jack up their rates. The final blow was when they jacked up the price of my house insurance 20% although I NEVER had a claim. So I looked around and went with Allstate. My 18 year old daughter's insurance dropped by 50% also. Allstate has better plans anyway for the same money such as replacing your car with the current year car if your car is totaled when it is 3 years old or less, multiple accident and ticket forgiveness (USAA hates any speeding tickets). I just got tired of USAA's lame excuses for raising rates and don't look at them for help if you are not at fault.

I'm sorry but you will be hard pressed to beat USAA rates at least up here in the NE.. they kick everyone else's butt and offer the best (by far) service in home and auto repair claims. I just completed another claim on my DD... totally painless, prompt and invisible to me other than the fact that the body shop had my car for a week after a large tree limb fell on it in front of my home...

Let us know if you find better. I doubt it myself.

I have done business with USAA for 51 years. I can't begin to tell you how far their quality of service has fallen and how much their rates have soared. If you have happened to notice, USAA now spends millions on an aggressive TV ad campaign. That's why your rates are skyrocketing. I have nothing good to say about USAA and most of the trouble starts right at the top with their idiot retired 2 star Army general that runs the association. Shop around. USAA is not the golden firm to insure with that they once were.

Cheers - Major Boyd

I hadcAMICA for 40 years. I kept trying to get them to save me some money. A few bucks here and there. Then I contacted an agent of a friend of mine. I had to join AARP, which I hate, but I saved $2400 a year. At that time we had 2004 MB SL500, 07 Z06' 2011 F150. House insured at $600K

Costco's Ameriprise..$200 HIGHER every 6 months..

Amica...MUCH higher...ridiculous in fact.

About to get my emailed quote after speaking to Safeco...they're quoting OVER $230 LESS than USAA every 6 months!! And they're working up my Homeowners as we speak!

Only diff is $100 Comp instead of $0, BUT includes $0 for ALL glass!
100/300/100 Liability like before.... $500 collision..under/uninsured etc...all identical to existing...both cars.

Crossing my fingers the agent I spoke to was not making some big mistake...but we could have a winner!!

I'll keep you all posted..

USAA - I have been with them for 25+ years.... I recently added a third car to my policy (an older Ferrari).... what disturbed me was not the cost of the insurance but some of the questions they asked me that I felt was NONE of their business:

USAA asked me "how I planned on replacing the money I spent on the car." And other questions along that line....

I'm still thinking about looking around for a different agent/company.
