To valet, or not to valet

Depending on what Hotel/Casino you are going to, but if there is a spot open right in front of the Casino you can ask to park it there. They like to have high end cars out front. I have done it a couple of times.

I go to the casino's often. Have found most of the valets for an extra (small) tip will usually park it right in front with all the other high-end cars you see out there (mercsd, vipers, etc.). Have a small tip in hand and ASK showing a tip before you give the keys or tip. If they say sorry they can't, drop your passenger and go to self-park. When you go in look for the head valet and tell them about it. Only had to tell the head valet once. Next time I went to same casino -- my car went about 20 feet off to the side and was in the same spot when I went out. The bigger and busy casino's on weekends etc. the tip needs to be a little bigger than the 5 spot. Any place resturant etc. that won't do that, park it yourself!!!

Valet. When you get there tear a $50 bill in half and give one half to the valet. Tell him he can have the other half if the car is returned in perfect condition.

I let 'em park it at a local steak house here.
They put it 10 feet from the door. Or, I can put it
in underground parking myself and who
knows what happens next. I drive it out
myself, after a generous tip...

Took my car to Goodyear for new tires Saturday, I backed the car in so all they had to do was pull it into the bay straight ahead.
My wife picks me up and we go next door to put gas in her car.
I'm pumping gas and I hear a, ROOOoaaarrr of a car coming around the back of the Goodyear building, and i say to my self, wow, some body is having some fun in a great sounding car.
I look up and its MY CAR , I went back to Goodyear, the manager apologized and the kid told the manager that the accelerator was sensitive and he did nothing wrong.
So, its 50/50, they might drive it OK or they might not

I'll self park mine and hold my own keys. Being fully insured, if some a-hole hits me or scrapes the car yea, it will **** me off, but It'll be fixed as good as new, so no worries. It's only a car.

We went to Vegas a few months ago. Stayed downtown at the Fremont. They have no self parking there, Valet only. I tipped them 5 when we would drop it off and 5 when we would pick it up. I always asked them to be careful and park it in a covered area, not on the roof. They were very respectful and did as I asked. The other times we have gone to Vegas I have always self parked in a remote area. Go, have a good time and dont worry about it.

I was down in Miami this past week and had the valet park my vette. I told him about my 05' M6 having to be put in reverse when parked or it would drain my battery. Left him $40 bucks and told him I would take care of him again in a couple of days when I picked my car back up. Called the valet and waited for over 45 minutes before my car was brought around. He apologized and said they were extremely busy was the reason it took so long. Noticed driving away that my clock was showing the wrong time and then noticed a hand print on my windshield. Got to Islamarado in the keys and opened the hood and sure enough my terminal covers were pulled back. Ended up having to buy a battery in the Keys because it wouldn't hold a charge. No big deal because old battery was 3 years old but>>>>>>>>>>>>

If valets were comprised of retired gents who owned vettes I would consider using them. But as long as they are young kids, not a fugging chance in hell.

I generally avoid valet parking no matter which car I'm driving. As for parking your Corvette in casino resort parking lot, as long as it's one of the 'nice' casino resort hotels I wouldn't worry much about it.

Former Valet
I used to work valet for a couple of casinos when I first got out of high school. I hate to admit it but we abused cars. There's a reason why many valet places don't move expensive cars to lots/garages but instead simply move them out of the way. I know karma is just waiting for me to valet my car...

Headed to Vegas today and Im torn between whether or not to park the car myself or have the valet park it.
I dont want to park in self parking and have joe blow smackin' doors up against it but at the same time I dont want valet to not realize how low the car is and bang up the front splitter or under the car. Im sure they see a lot of cars that are better than mine so hopefully they respect them... just wondering if any of you fine gentlemen had any input.
Thanks!
