LOL, I have a bit of a different lifestyle than some of you guys. I've been single since '78, have had some serious health issues in the past few years, am probably done with women, am semi-retired and don't give a hoot about much anymore.

After reading the OP and some of the comments that followed, I thought I throw these pix in for those who think, "You live in New York? It's all concrete and glass there, right?"
Well, there's an entire state attached to NYC, that is different from "the city" in about every way imaginable. I'm about 350 miles or so away from it.
I'm surrounded by miles of steep wooded hills, 5 miles from the nearest store, the town has one traffic light.
Thanks! Attachment 48363860
There are small brook trout in the holes although I haven't seen any in some time.
When I bought the place in '81 I asked about flooding, and the previous owner said that in '72 during hurricane Agnes that it came close but didn't overflow. Last week we got some really serious rain too and it was up, fast, and muddy but not even close to overflowing -- so I don't worry about it.

Guess you have your share of rabbits too..or is the field fencing over the raised beds to keep the deer out?? Too bad about the fish...Get NYF&G to stock the stream from your location.....You on well water there, or is there gov't sewer and water to your location. (My wife looked at the pics and started to reminisce..she grew up in Upstate New York...around Lake George..going to be back there in October for a high school reunion....hers, not mine..... her sister still lives outside of Albany and her medical practice is there.)

I'm sure the brookies are still around. The holes that they live in shift around a lot after the spring run-off or after some serious rain like last week, so I haven't looked around yet since then.
The only utilities I have are electric and phone (with DSL.) I'm on a dirt road that loops off the main road, although going south from my driveway it's paved. My entire road is only about a mile long so it's no big deal to take the paved way out.
I'm a long ways from Lake George, although the terrain may look similar. I'm south of Rochester in between Canandaigua and Honeoye Lakes -- right in the middle of NY wine country.

The fencing is just temporary to keep the cats out til the plants grow up some, although I've never seen the cats dig around in there anyway.
