not everyone owns a garage. cars are kepy (gasp) outdoors at many dealers in direct sunlight. I think your baby will be fine there in the shade.

waxing, repairing or playing with your Corvette in a 95F garage is difficult. I bought a 10m BTU (should have gone with the 12 portable a/c at home depot. Had a carpenter drill a hole in the wall to vent the hot air and condensation. I elevated the unit with cinder blocks and a shelf I made. Very good investment.

I have been thinking about something like this. Any pictures? How big is your garage?

I haven't had any problems with any of my cars, including the Vette with our heat and I'm in AZ. My garage gets really, really hot in the summer - again no problems with any of the cars.

Only damage was to me today while I was pulling off my street pads and rotors to put my track sets on. +40 with the humidity (105'ish for my southern friends). I can't get enough water tonight...

No problem. My pole barn hits that all the time in the summer.

Nah those temperatures won't cause any real problems. However, if it goes from 115 degrees down to 40 or 50 degrees and one day, the moisture will become your real enemy. The substantial changes from a high temperature to a low temperature in a short amount of time will by far be much more of a problem.

Doesnt sound like you really have to worry about that though.

Cars parked out in the sun get a lot hotter inside than 115. You will be fine in the garage without the sun exposure.

Drive the car 10 minutes and park outside with an air temp in the 80's and the sun shining. Put a thermometer under the hood with the hood closed. Now get another thermometer because you just broke that one. Put the second one inside the car. 125 or higher, right? That's why you don't lock dogs or kids in the car outside. Now put a thermometer on the ground under the car. Still more than 115, right?

The car is tested to withstand idling in the desert sun. Don't worry about the car as much as you worry about the house when you put a hot car in the garage and close the door.

Your car is going to melt and sag!!! Lmao!!!

j/k

The only thing to worry about is your battery. Make sure your tender is hooked up. Summer heat drains your battery just like freezing temps. in winter do.

I tried this unit that is now available from Lowes because it was the largest unit I could find that would work with 120 15 amp electrical. I did not want to have to run a new electrical line since my circuit braker box it totally filled. Plus the neighborhood ****'s verbode window AC units.

I have a three car garage and if you start the unit in the morning it will keep the garage in the 80's all day. However, if you pull in a car with a hot engine, or start the AC in the afternoon when it is typically 95 degrees, it will do NOTHING. So one must plan carefully. It is better than nothing but working in the garage in sweltering heat is not a "pleasurable" activity. So I plan all major modifications for the winter.

ABSOLUTELY!!! They stopped selling vettes in AZ and Nevada for this very reason, cars turn into a huge pile of melted plastic.

Seriously, look into have a Gable End Fan or some roof mounted exhaust fans installed. I put one in and its on a thermostat, keeps the garage cool all summer.
