C6: Narrow AND Shorter- this is a problem?
If it is at least a front engine 5.7L then they cannot make it too small especially when they are keeping the same interior space. If it was just narrower I would be concerned. Plus the possible weight savings…
Just like everyone else I don't want no stinking train or S2000.
Or maybe I'm just too stupid! :)

From what I understand ... it could be that the body panels are designed to make it seem shorter ... their is a lot of space in the C5 that is "dead space" ... maybe they will get rid of that space and still keep the car in tact interior wise ...
I think that for a true performance standpoint .. the C6 has to come with 400HP and the ability to get higher easily .. plus my pet-peeve ... the ability to fit 345 tires out back !!!

Wider makes for better handling. *Insert Pontiac Commercial Here*
S-2000 size is about right, maybe a little small, but IMHO, the Corvette needs to lose weight and complexity, which will help performance a lot more than bigger horsepower numbers, even if the numbers make for better bragging.

Compared to the C4 the 5 seems awfully big. A C4 sized car wouldn't be bad in my book.
I could be biased on this though.

Amen. Since when did the Corvette need to become smaller? Oh the European market wants it that way? How many Corvettes do they sell over there? Since when have cars like the Lamborghini Diablo needed to be smaller? Keep the AMERICAN proportions.

The C5 is barely big enough, IMHO. GM shouldn't downsize to satisfy a small European market. And it especially shouldn't downsize to provide a common platform for the Cadillac. Did anyone really buy that crap about Cadilllac's Le Mans racer? It was so much BS. So they want to wreck a great car so that the Caddy guys can have a so-called sports car? That's some wierd thinking going on there.
I didn't buy a C4 because it didn't have enough space for 2 sets of clubs and some luggage. So I can't imagine making the next vette smaller than the C5.

I don't care about the Euro market.
I do care about handling and saving weight. All other things being equal, small cars weigh less and have the potential to handle better. If I wanted "American" proportions, I'd buy a minivan.

All you have to do is pull the back bumper off to see that... A solid 8" of uselss space (actually, there's a crash bumper in there). Find a way it integrate the crash bumper into the body more and ditch that 8". The front has about 6" of wasted space, but it's prolly necessary from a styling persepctive.
Personally, I like the size of the 'vette as it is. No bigger, maybe *slightly* smaller. And screw those Euro crybabies. I care what they want. Really I do. :D

If I want a luxocruiser, I'll take big. If I want a sportscar, I'd prefer small.

Everyone keeps talking about the C6 having more power, more speed etc.... No one has thought about the Government's rules and regulations.... I am not saying I like this, BUT, as I see it, the C6 will be smaller, lighter, and most likely have LESS horse power... Why?? because every year cars have to go through harder and harder Gas mileage testing, emissions testing, etc.... GM is making a Corvette that they can make, not one that it's customers necessarily really want, and they aren't copying the European market... We are all just going to have to live with what they can give to us, or should I say, live with what the Government will let them sell to us!

IMHO styling is a LOT less affected by Federal regs. as other issues such as exhaust emissions, crash protection and gas mileage.
I don't believe taking the "dead space" out of the C5 will have any positive bearing on ANY of those issues.
It may be logical to think that a "shorter" C5 might have a negative 'impact'
(no pun intended) on crash worthiness.
Don't forget the "AZWRECK", that hideous creature of an automobile.
It's about as "Euro" as they could get it.
Every time I see one I want to :U :U
Can you believe GM built THAT? Can you believe some "folks" bought it?
Here's my best advice to the General:
Screw the Euro styling and please do regular drug testing on the Vette designers.

AS long as it looks good it will sell ... an ugly Vette will never sell ... with any amount of HP
