Sometimes. I usually try to get a decent spot out of habit.

That said, I'm far less hyper vigilant with the Vette than I was with my Jeep. The Vette has plastic/fiberglass panels - it won't ding like metal (my Saturn DD is the same way). That was a big selling point for me, knowing that I would be able to sleep at night not worrying that my car was going to get dinged because I took it somewhere.

I avoid parallel parking (people can't judge the distance to the front end).
And try to never park where someone in another spot can back into the side of the car.

I just stay a few spot farther out then everyone else. Or depends on who is already parked there.

I would never park on a sidewalk, "Captain's" plaque or not.

Can you guys tell me what is your concern in drawing attention to your car? My thoughts are that the car draws attention no matter where it is, especially a yellow one. I'm just trying to understand.

Yep. This is something I do as much as possible.

Maybe a better description is drawing attention to the owner giving in the perception(not reality) of the owner thinking he/she is special even though the owner just want to protect their car. Some bad apples out there feel the need to mess with others property to **** them off.

The Wal Mart nearest to my house has the biggest parking spots I've ever seen. And they are angled where, if you park properly between the lines, it's impossible to hit cars on either side with a door, even our big ones.

The negative side of this is that people can also easily get a shopping cart between parked cars, and most people can't drive shopping carts very well. Not only that, at least half the people just leave the cart sitting where they emptied it without walking 10 feet to put in the proper storage corral.

I once saw a woman parking, and there was a cart in front of her. Did she go to another spot, or get out and move the cart? No. She just pushed it out of her way, into another car, got out, and walked in the store. That type person seems to be more common at Wal Mart than, say, a Macy's store .... Think translucent spandex on a 250 lb frame ....

I normally take my 12 year old Mazda truck shopping when possible.

I hear whet you are saying. I just figure my yellow Vette is going to draw attention anywhere in the lot. And I am well aware of the jealousy of some against someone whom they think has more than they have. So I figured they'd be jealous and vengeful up close moreso than if I park away.

I park out some so I get some exercise and I also park toward the busy street side. I figure someone will be less likely to mess with it if its we're everyone can see it. So far it has worked.

That is basically it. I don't think I am special b/c I own a vette, I just want to protect my car more.

I always take my DD whenever I go to places with parking lots, so I can park anywhere I please. Unless I need my pickup to haul what won't fit in my Vette. Oh wait... did I mention my Vette is my DD?
