Default Battery Tenderquick question

I've never used one of these before but am going to be away for 5 weeks and for the first time will use one of these on my corvette. My question is can you close the hood while connected to the battery or leave the hood completely open while on the tender? Not sure if leaving the hood open so long will adversely affect my hood's two cylinder pieces that keep the hood open or not. Thanks!

i plug mine in everytime i park it in the garage. i run the cable over the fender and rest the hood on the latch, without latching it. i would hate for the hood to come crashing down, god knows what would crack - break

Thanks Tom, good advice. I'll put the hood down but not latch it...

Me too, works fine. I also put a piece of cardboard on the windshield so I don't forget and drive away with the tender plugged in. Never thought I could do that, until I did.

You can also run the wires on the ground.

This definitely works, no problem. You can use a car cover, too.

But I think it's much easier to connect with a cigarette adapter, like this one for the CTEK:

And if you run the cord thru the notch in the door sill, make sure you don't crimp the cord -- it should move easily when the door is closed.

Battery Tender for me. I leave the hood open but down and run the wire down the fender.

I put a couple folded rags over the latches and in the center then lower the hood down on them.

I just close the hood without latching it with the wire coming out.

Same here but I lay a towel over the fender under the cord so it doesn't scratch.
