In addition to sitting on the halo is how they get there. Climbing all over the interior of you car? In heels?

Just stepping on the seats can cause the support wires to cut the foam.

A dignitary sitting on the halo? - ya gotta be kidding. Maybe in the back of the Silverado
with the mulch.

As others have noted just protect the halo...to me bigger question is HOW is the person going to get to the halo??? Stand on the seats and then on the center console....I would not do...... And then will be sitting there and where do shoes? feet? reside. I be more concerned with the interior...
I don't think this is a real good idea

My thoughts on letting someone do that is to tell them to go get their own C6 to ride on. If it gets damaged I doubt anyone is going to step up and help you cover the cost to fix it.

Sit on your halo? I was wondering what that metaphor meant.

I would imagine they asked you because you have a "cool" car and I would do it without all the worry about liability, potential scratches, etc. You asked for an honest opinion and that's my opinion.
That's the problem at this point, I don't know if I'll be getting a 125lb beauty Queen or or some fat guy. The halo, as seen in this picture is part of the frame. So it should hold a lot.
BTW: I appreciate your honest opinion.

I thought about that too. Nobody's climbing in my ride without rules. First off, no shoes! They can take them off and leave them on the passenger floor. Then I would use two blankets, one to sit on for scratch protection and the other on the console to your rest your feet on.

If it is designed to hold the weight of a car it can hold the weight of the most obese human being. I would probably put something like that non-slip shelf/drawer liner stuff on it to prevent them from slipping on your freshly detailed car vs. a blanket.
Sounds like your biggest concern is how attractive the person will be not the damage to the car. I suspect that all of the guys on here worrying about liability, scratches and having shoes on would run to open the door if it turns out she is a Victoria Secret model and just finished a photo shoot in her red bikini and heels....

first off, why such a request? they certainly have a good idea what you paid for your car, basically anyway. i would never ask any vette owner if they would let someone sit on the halo of their car. parade or no parade, it doesn't matter. if the person wants to be the center of attention, tell him to get a pair of stilts.

Years ago when I had my "98 Z28, my friend and I used to stand on the Halo to wave down the hot chicks at the cruising spots. If it can hold our collective 450lbs, a fat councilman should be no problem.

I don't think you would have a problem with the halo. But just to be on the safe side if you decide to do it. Tell them it has a 125 lb weight limit.

I used to do this all the time with the local high school home coming Queens. First thing you need to do is to get a short piece of 2x8 that you can cover with a pillow case or wrap a towel around. The board should be long enough to bridge across the seat bolsters. Place it on your seat so the person has something fairly solid to stand on when they try to lift themselves onto the Halo. Next make sure you purchase a small throw rug with a rubber backing for them to sit on. Otherwise you might see them sliding off the car one or the other. A waxed Halo is very slippery when you are sitting up there. If the person is a female in a big frilly dress like home coming queens wear then make sure it doesn't float out and wrap around your head and block your vision.

The board and the carpet will protect the car and at the same time protect the passenger.

Drive slow.

I agree with this post and the previous one. It's getting there and then what they're doing with their feet that would be the most concerning to me.

Yes it is safe! I've done parades on 4 separate occasions.

I dont think the problem is the strength of the frame- i'm sure it is strong enough-but the fiberglass (or plastic) covering over the framework is what I would be worried about. I'm not sure it would be good for it, especially if their is a gap between the frame and the covering. I don't know how it is constructed- never seen one taken apart- but I would be worried about it cracking or collapsing- just a thought!

Yes, but they were all for your own entertainment, and in your Parking Garage . . . .
