Unfortunately Flying Roof Club not fixed roof coupe..
I normally check and recheck... and recheck my roof latches after reading about other members here having this happen.
I was at a gas station and put the roof back on after sweating like a pig in 90+ degrees with the top off today. I sat down in the car to latch it(or so I thought) and the guy at the pump behind me started talking to me. Went inside to grab a bottle of water, came back out and on my way I went. The roof flew off as soon as I hit about 35mph. Luckily no one was around to get hit by the roof.
Pretty sure she is isn't fixable. A lot of paint damage, cracks in the frame of the roof near the handles and some chips in the fiberglass on the rear side of the panel. It went back on the car without problem and latched tight. Time to find a replacement.
Anyone around Pittsburgh have a stock roof for sale? Car is Machine Silver. Another Machine Silver roof would be great. I was actually thinking about doing a black roof and halo so black would be great too. Of course I'm due for new front rubber right now too so I'm hoping to get lucky and find a good deal on another roof.
Initiation photos to follow tomorrow.... Check your latches everyone, not a fun club to join.

35 mph is about when mine started to lift off too one day a few years ago. Luckily, I noticed it start to rattle and reached and grabbed it just as it started to lift off.
Get the see-through roof since that's kinda what you want (black top) anyway...

Post a WTB in the For sale/wtb thread. Even a repaint of a used one would be a good way to go

I sent a link to this post to a CF friend who changed his roof from silver to black. I thought he bought a different roof but not positive. Maybe he could help.
Sorry about your misfortune, I can definitely see that happening to me for sure, if I had a coupe.

How often do you club members get together...?? In all seriousness glad no one got injured. And agree with the others the clear roof is great and one you would be able to use nearly year round given the fact you live in the north.

Almost joined the club once...now I make sure if the roof is going on with the intent to remove again I always do one latch no matter what.

A few initiation photos as promised.
The good news is that it latches on and seals water right. I sprayed it down pretty good last night just in case.
I'll be sending an email to that craigslist poster later today and might toss up a WTB thread later today as well.

Sorry about the roof. How tall are you?
I ask because the obviousness of the open latches varies depending on eye level.
If Chevy made them pivot downwards instead of backwards, and painted the underside of them day-glo orange, FRC membership would be near zero. Nobody would miss two great big orange sticks blocking their view out the windshield. No indicator lights, sensors, or other gizmos required.
