Is it OK to use a detailing spray on the transparent top? Is long term use harmful to the plastic?

I don't use it, but it's true. I was on the phone with Sal Zaino years ago trying to determine if my swirl marks could be "hidden" with product or would have to be professionally buffed out. He asked me if I had any furniture polish in the house. I did, and the swirls disappeared - until the next time I washed the car.

I've also read that the car show folks use pledge.

turbo, I used to use the Z6 too, but I don't any more because it's over priced, once you pay shipping. The Meguiars is just as good. I got a bottle of it once because that was the only way you could buy their clay bar. I used soap water for the clay bar lube and saved the detail spray for when I needed to remove bug guts or bird ****. It worked just as good as the Z6.

Absolutely. Sal knew what he was doing by adding purdy smells to all of his products.

Our Corvette Club worked the Mecum Auto Auction and I saw them wiping down each car with DFT Detailer. Comes in a spray bottle and it is orange in color. DFT had a booth there so I bought a bottle. I loved this stuff. works great on the paint, windows(forget Windex) and even my wife's dirty stove top. I can go over my whole car in less than 30 minutes. Wipe on and off with the same mf towel. Note: I keep my car in the garage and don't drive it when the weather is bad, so I am not looking for all that protection stuff, just a great shine and that is what I get. People often ask me what I use to get that shine.
To find it, google DFT Detailers. No, I don't work for them, just like their product.

I use Meguires mainly, but have found Mothers to also do a great job. Just don't use on hot paint as it will smear and be tougher to wipe off.

This for me. ---^

Adams and Zaino and I'm sure a few others, are excellent. But I want to be able to re-supply locally at times, and the Meguiars is easy to get at any auto store and many hardware stores.

I am intrigued by the comment to use the Meguiars for black. I am going to get some. With two other black cars, it will get used even if not on the SSB vette.

I too am a Zaino user but like Mother's "Showtime" detail spray too.

I also cut my Z6 in half with distilled water and it goes twice as far.

absolutely

Zaino is great stuff. It's a bit pricey and on top of that, I'm just tired of getting boned on shipping charges

I used to use Megs Ultimate but changed over to Z6. Nothing wrong with the shine of Megs but I found it built up on the finish of the car over time. If you have a light colored car you probably won't notice or if you wash your car often then it won't matter to you.

What really made me change over to Z6 is my car gets less dust on it when using it. I do cut mine down with distilled water too so it goes twice as far.

It is kind of a pain when you only need a couple items from Zaino. That would be my only complaint about their line. It's $10 for shipping no matter what. Sucks if you only want a bottle of detail spray.

Hey George, there are two different kinds of Maguires ultimate spray detail I highly suggest the Maguires "Gold" ultimate spray detail. When I'm doing a show I use that detail spray then apply a second coat of Zaino Z8 and it is a most brilliant shine.

If it's dirty, you should not rub anything on it until you have washed it with car soap and water. And use the 2 bucket method to wash it. Start with the least dirty part of the car (ie roof, hood) and finish with the dirtiest part. Detail spray is good to use immediately after you dry the car to give it a little more shine.

Some like to use it on a slightly dusty car to clean it up. I don't for the simple reason that when doing that, one is rubbing dirt into the paint, and that is what causes swirls. I live with the dust until the next time I wash the car.

I will use detail spray to wipe bug guts or bird **** off of the paint (even if the car was not just washed) because I consider that to be the lesser of 2 evils. That, and I know how to polish out swirls with my porter cable and some menzerna polish. I just prefer to not have swirls over the entire car.

Congratulations on your 2013 Z06. That's one awesome ride.

Thanks for the info.. I got the 60th anniversary white with silver stripes.. I traded a 2011 SS SLP 427 package with a Edelbrock supercharger and other bolt ons.. I was at 611 RWHP. I can't wait to get a supercharger on this thing..
