Default who has done an axle back exhaust swap in the driveway, got a couple questions

In a few weeks I’ll be swapping our B&B bullets for a Z06 bi-mode exhaust. Question is how difficult is the swap and how high do you have to get the rear end to rotate them in and out.
thanks
mike

On big stands, lift as high as possible...I'd put the front wheels on race ramps, and place stands as high as they go on rear frame jacking points. To make life so much easier especially on stands, you can take out the heat shield above the exhaust and lower the rear cradle about 1.5" to give you more room.

I just lifted high enough so I could roll to the front of the H pipe.
I loosen all the brackets then dropped the h- pipe at the front of the car.
Next dropped the H-pipe at the axle.
Finally remove the bolts holding the exhaust brackets to the rear of the car.
The exhaust will then slide over the axle and out the back of the car.
I have an A6, the SLP could not get by the shift linkage so I popped it off and hung it out of the way.

Once you have the exhaust off, replace your differential fluid.
With the exhaust out of the way, it is extremely easy to fill the rear end. And it can't hurt.

Just installed mine Monday.
I used race ramps (backed on to them) and jacked up the driver side till the wheel left the ground and installed a jack stand. Did the same for passenger side. Removed the nuts for the spring holders first, then removed the connection for the x-pipe at the front, using one of the flanges to hold the assembly up on one of the lower bolts. Next I loosened the clamps at the rear of the x-pipe and disconnected the pipes. These required a little force to unseat, and my car only has 400 miles on it, so more mileage may equal more force!

Next I lubed the rubber bushings and pushed the drivers side exhaust out of them and then removed. Did the same for the passenger side. You will have to turn as you remove but they come right out.

Install was a little more of a pain as the drivers side pipe seemed to want to hit the tranny brackets. I managed to have about a half inch of room, but wish I could get more. I will be checking in a week to make sure nothing shifted. Oddly, alignment was near perfect and only required a little shift to the drivers side.

It can be done on ramps as stated above, but next time I would want to do it on a lift. It took me 1.5 hours, most of it making sure everything had clearence. Coud be done in an hour. Make sure you have deep sockets and a set of open ends...

Check out THIS thread with instructions and pictures.

I basically did what this guy did. I backed up onto 10" high ramps (note...most cheap ramps like Rhino Ramps are only 8" tall). I had the front tires sitting on pieces of 2x10s for a little extra clearance. Other than that I didn't raise the front of the car at all.

I swapped out my 09 standard exhaust mufflers for the NPP mufflers right after I purchased the car. At the same time I installed the NPP exhaust controller kit from Sunset Orange Creations. It was pretty easy. I dropped the exhaust from the cats back which helped getting the mufflers off and on. I used my race ramps to get the rear of the car up. It took me a couple of hours and two beers to complete the job. Here are a few pics.

Great pics! These help illustrate that you don't have to raise the whole car up to access the bolts at the front of the mid-pipe. It probably doesn't hurt, but it's not mandatory. Just back it up on some 10" tall ramps and you're good to go.

I believe it...whatever they are, they aren't high enough! I used Rhino Ramps to do my exhaust swap, and I still had to jack the rear end up and stack some sections of 2x10s under the ramps to get another few inches of lift.
