Just changed mine yesterday. System specs say 5.5 for my coolerless LS3. I add 5 and start the engine (actually take a short drive) to circulate and check for possible leaks around the filter. Then recheck while still warm and add what's required to fill to the top dipstick mark.
Rechecked today after another 120 miles, but it was still exactly on the mark.

His car is an LS2 not even like our cars.

My 2012 A6 wet sump's manual says 6 qts, so that's what I did on my first oil & filter change at 500 miles. Started it up to circulate, went for a ride and smelled oil. I did't spill a drop. Went home, let it sit for a bit, and it was over the top mark. Pulled out a 1/2 quart, and the smell went away. BTW, i think this is the cause of most of those complaints about smelling oil after a change.
I think you should make sure of your car and its options, check for yourself, and not blindly follow the manual.

I just don't get it. I would never pull an 8 ounce glass out of the cupboard and then pour exactly eight ounces of milk into it, even if it overflowed all over the countertop. I would pour till it was about a half inch from the top of the glass. Why the tendency of many here to do that with motor oil? The dipstick is there for a reason...and it is so simple to use....
We know that every C6 will need more than 5 quarts, so buy 6 and then use the dipstick. The dipstick is just a simple way to get the milk to a half inch below the rim of the glass.

On my track bikes, I took a permanent marker and literally wrote it on the bike. My swing arm says "86" and my forks say "14" on them and etc

Please read the owners manual, thanks!
That is not correct, the owner's manual says to fill to correct level on the dipstick AND if you are racing, ADD an additional quart of oil. This is in the manual, and a friend of mine burned an engine up Xcrossing by not adding the additional qt of oil. So now, let's play it smart and save the engine. That extra is alot cheaper than an engine. Hope you are not having financial problems.
