Default Support your local dealership

So as you know I love my local dealership, Jacky Jones in Murphy, NC, I try to throw money at my local dealer every time I can.
It keeps them in business and it allows them to get to know me and know I appreciate them.
Wednesday night I went online to research an axle shaft.
I wanted to see what a discount forum vendor was charging for OEM. Once I knew the price I called my local parts department and told them what I needed.
They blew away the online vendor without me haggling.
Not only that but the online vendor wanted 44.00 for two day delivery. I would have gotten it Monday afternoon instead of having the weekend to repair my car.
I called my dealership at 1530 before boarding a plane in DC and I picked up my parts this morning at 0800 with no delivery charge.
After taxes I saved 42.00 for my entire order over the online vendor.

So, if you like your dealership get to know the people running the business and let them know you are a good customer.
They will take care of you in the long run.
This is the first and last time I comparison shop for parts from a forum vendor for OEM GM parts.

There are some great vendors for high quality after market like DD and CorVette Mods, but for OEM see what your local parts guy can do.
Getting the part today or tomorrow is better than paying more and getting it next week.

My local Cadillac - GMC dealer loves me...14 vehicles in less than 10 years! I love them also... I do their plumbing and HVAC work. Spend your money where you get money.

My dealer beat everyone on tire prices and only charged $40.00 for mount and balance.

Bought four vehicles from mine in last few years and they do my service work. The owner is also a Corvette owner so that helps.

My local dealer stinks. Lousy service, won't negotiate on price and they make u feel like you are doing them a favor. Gave them a bunch of opportunities, but they blew them all. If I need to buy it will be Kerbeck, for service Kester Glenn in NJ.

My local dealer also stinks...as far as buying a vehicle. Parts department is great. If I have to take mine to a dealer, I take it 20 miles to a dealer where I trust the mechanic who works on Corvettes.

I have a good local dealer, although I don't buy many parts. His service department is excellent and, so far, reasonably priced. I guess it helps that I've bought 8 or 10 vehicles from him in the last 15 years.

My local dealership made a good deal on the car I bought, but their service department blew the chances I gave them. I now take my car to a much smaller dealership about 30 miles away for any work...it costs more, but they are far more responsive to my needs.

Obviously, its not the dealer but the people that work there. Some will go all in to help their customers while others just put in their time and wait for 5pm so they can go home and complain to their wives about crybaby owners.

Find a good new car, service, or parts manager and you will have a good experience at your dealership, find an idiot and do I need to say more ?

My local dealer was great also. Unfortunately GM closed them down.

I agree in principle that we should support the local dealership if there are no underlying issues that would prove otherwise. Some dealerships have little to no experience with Corvettes, and we all have read some of the horror stories about taking a vette to one of those dealers. As for purchasing parts, thats another story. A part is a part for the DIY'er.

If I go into my local dealer without my vette and look at the vettes on the lot they treat me like a tire kicker or a p.o.s. and try and show me a used Geo.

If I pull up in my vette, they run out to me, call me sir, give me first class service, insist I drive a new one and offer me something to drink etc. hmmmm.

As always, it pays to compare. Look on line to get prices, then you have a point of reference. You should support local, but if their idea is to overcharge you out of your hard-earned cash, then go elsewhere.

I avoid my local dealer like I would avoid a local colony of Lepers.
