Got my new LS3 Daily driver!
thoughts:
Pros:
More comfortable than expected, but the seats feel like... they only half filled them or something?
Engine and trans are perfect. I have no desire to get a short throw shifter, change any gear ratios or add more power- which is a first for me.
31.1 effing miles per gallon at 71mph with the AC blasting? Are you kidding me? Wow.
Clear roof is simply awesome
4LT is pretty nice. Not sure I would have coughed up $4k for it if I was the original owner, especially since it didn't include DVD/NAVI
HUD is great.
Tight steering ratio is awesome
Cons:
Not many, I'm definitely nit picking.
I wish it had a "mute/someone is calling, turn down the volume" button
The roof joints squeaked. They lubed them up. Now it almost sounds like the roof is loose at certain times
Center console gets warm. I assume it's from the exhaust and drivetrain heat.
No bluetooth is annoying. Hopefully there is some way to add that.
Other:
This is the first car I've driven where I thought "holy ****, if I screw up, this will get really ugly really quick without any ability to save it." It reminded me of my first time on a sport bike- the inputs are very sensitive and the machine is finely tuned. It's going to do what you tell it to do, whether it's what you want it to do or not, so be very careful. It just feels like it can bite very quickly and very hard.
i'm not sure if this is just because its new to me, the tight steering or relatively little understeer I feel (in my very limited driving). It might even be in my head running on runflats and low tread fronts. I've driven plenty of cars, both on and off the racetrack and never quite got this feeling. Normally, I have no problem going through a turn lighting up the rear and being a bike guy, I trail brake hard with relatively little fear.
Maybe I was just thinking "it's just the base corvette, so it won't be anything to worry about" not thinking "it's a 436hp 3100 car with the weights at the furthest extremities." I'll do a few sessions in it next week at the track. that should help things out.
and the best part, this was taken after about 45 miles, AC blasting:

Another note: This is the first vehicle, aside from one bike, I bought that I need to be careful with because it's nice. GTO was about as close I came to that (got it with 35k) and someone rear ended me within 3 weeks of getting it. It was always nice being able to mindless enjoy a car without worrying.
Even when I get watches, I get used ones with small nics or some small "first scratch" so I can just wear it without worrying or getting realy upset if I bump into something. Same thing with my bikes. I just buy used track bikes (I don't ride street). I got my 1000RR brand new ($7k OTD mega blow out) and some jackass hit me at the track while it still had paper plates. I was kind of relieved because now I could just ride without being scared for the paint.
This is probably my biggest complaint about it- it's too nice for me. I hate nice things

I can help you with two of your cons.
You can turn off the head unit by pressing in the top **** and you can get a bluetooth hands free kit (belkin makes a good one) that you plug into your aux port.
Congrats on your car!

you must have a 2008 if it's an LS3 and no bluetooth. The 2009+ models have a push to mute button on the steering wheel. Otherwise, buy a whole new headunit with navigation or buy a handsfree kit.
Either way congrats and glad you picked LS3 over an LS2 (for more reasons than just the engine). Enjoy the ride!

How can I distinguish between an 09+ and pre09 head unit (is there a bluetooth button?)

Also, how do the memory seat work? Sometimes they go back to let me out, sometimes they dont. sometimes they readjust, sometimes they dont. Car didn't have an owner's manual.

They threw in two new rear tires and the fronts are on the way out.
Worked for me. It wasn't a super awesome deal, but it was a good price. I was more interested in getting exactly what I wanted for the next 75k miles than saving $35/mo

Congrats.
On the top you have a couple options. You can take it to the dealer and have them go the step-by-step adjustment process. Or you can do the o-rings on the roof posts. Or both.
Usually one or other or combo of the two quiets them down pretty good.
Do a search on o-ring and roof and you'll it'll pull up pics of what I'm talking about.
You have a great time with the car. And yeah, they get pretty darned good fuel mileage, paricularly considering their overall performance.

scroll down to the 2008 owners manual:

using the seat exit position is not only more convenient but should also save on seat wear.

Press option on the right and go through your preferences to auto exit and select it to off. I'm not in my car right now but it's a setting along the lines of this that'll prevent the seat from moving automatically

Congrats!!
I have the 2012 base coupe with the improved seats, quite comfy. Some here have done the pre-2012 to post-2012 seat conversion with good results. Don't know if it is worth it to you. In any case, I had the exact same feeling as you did regarding staying out of "trouble" with this car. It is scary fast! I have broken the rear tires free from 40mph by stomping the gas. Alot of cars will do it from a standing start, but from 40mph? AWESOME
Enjoy the new ride...

"In honor of jpee"
as to seats being half full, read up on vendors here. there is/are two different seat fixes that will bolster up the bottoms with webbing, diff. foam, etc. one is only $69.
btw really like that color and that interior is what I would've gotten if I'd seen it first--ordered my car too early to see that interior.
