Homelink anyone?
OK, it's probably not the hottest topic on Corvettes, and if my quick search failed to indicate that it has already been then I apologize.
However, if I can save someone the aggravation triggered by the seemingly impossible way to program the homelink system in a C6, then I'll be happy to share my experience.
I recently bought a pristine Z51, 05 model, and as a recent owner, I am still learning the tricks and discovering the hidden pearls.....
One of these pearl was programming the homelink to open my garage door. So here I am, reading my owners manual like a good boy doing his homework before the exam, and then feeling ready, go take a comfortable seat in the vette to take said exam.
As early as step 2, I already knew I had failed. The assigned button wasn't learning anything from my remote or my opener, the only light coming on being the one in shape of a question mark in my brain, topped by fumes of frustration, and some loud "I'm doing exactly what the book says, what the #$%& is going on???"
After failing long enough I decide to give the homelink website a try, but nothing there any different from what I had already read on my Corvette manual. At this point I needed a human contact. Even if it's to be told that I'm retarded, I just gotta know what's going on. To be sure.
A very nice guy takes all my info, and then asks me to describe my homelink to him. How many buttons? how many LED's?
Me: 3 buttons, as many LED's.
Him: OK sir, here's what's going on. You do not have Homelink. See, GM equiped some vehicles with Homelink, and some with the Learcar2you system. You have a Learcar2you system.
Me: Ohhhhhh..... ahhhhh... I see......
The nice gentleman then gave the me Learcar2you contact phone number, and some 10mns later, I was operating my garage door from one of the buttons built in on my sun visor.
So don't waste your time if you have 3 buttons and 3 LED's on your visor: You do not have Homelink, you have?............ Learcar2you!
Which is programed differently, and there is of course not a word in your manual about all this.
You're welcome.

How about posting the phone number for those that do have the Lear system and are having problems?

I've bought 12 GM vehicles in the last 10 years and lucky for me they all had Homelink. Hard to imagine why GM is not standard across the board on such things. Nav systems are different in almost all GM vehicles. Go figure.

I'm the original owner of a 2007 C6 and it came with the Lear opener from the factory. Went to the Lear2U web site but still haven't been able to program it to my new LiftMaster garage door opener.

2005's came with homelink not learcar, if you have that, then it was probably installed after the fact by the previous owner.
Also, if you buy a used vette and go to program it, you need to clear out the codes of the previous owner. You can't reprogram it to learn if it already has a code installed.
To clear out all old codes you need to hold the 1st and 3rd button together until it flashes rapidly. Also when programming, if you have rolling codes on your garage opener, then you need to program your remote then press the button on the garage door motor, then the stored button on your Vette.

The far left button is Homelink, the other 2 are Lear. I just programed my 013 G S, also did my 09 (sold) I had to have the car inside the garage for it to program it tho.

To add to this info: If you have the car2u system, it doesn't work with all openers UNLESS you get an add on attachment that gets wired into the opener. On their website is all the info on what it's compatible with and what you need the attachment for. The attachment is needed for each opener and costs about $25 but if you argue about the expensive car you just bought not working right bla bla bla they may send you one (or two if you're lucky) for free. I got one free cause my 2011 explorer did't work with my opener....

If you have a laptop the video walk through is perfect if you bring the laptop in the car while you're programming.

And confirmed by the Homelink Customer Service Rep: "GM randomly installed both units in their vehicles"..... so I guess "generally speaking" is the key word here.

[QUOTE=vig1116;1583913304] Maybe i read this wrong, but you can't have one button out of 3 one system, and the other 2 buttons something else....
You read it correctly, try it for yourself, I learned it from a Forum member, Ive done an 08, 09, & a 013 with sucess on all 3.

Nope. According to previous owner the car is all stock (why would one bother replacing Homelink with Lear??) and it's a late 05.

What trim level is your car? we can tell you if it came with it or not

1SB Option Package
6 Disk in dash CD changer with MP3 playback, driver's side memory package, head-up display, home link transmitter, auto dimming mirrors with compass power telescopic steering column, heated driver and passenger seats.
Could have the option of Nav instead of cd

[QUOTE=johnny3;1583913451]I'm not saying you didn't program it correctly, but it can't be BOTH homelink and car2u system on the same visor. It's two different companies. It's like saying your computer is a Mac and PC.

I don't mean to argue here (I'm perfectly happy with my transmitter now operating the door beautifully), but what I'm wondering here, as I consider the theory that my car came with Homelink and was later replaced by Lear is:
-Why would the lil' ole couple I bought the car from tell me it's all stock untouched, as they never did anything else than the routine maintenance on it (they were barely using the thing btw...)
-And again: Why would one go through the bother of replacing a stock Homelink with an after market Lear? Just doesn't make much sense...

So back to square one and the quote from the Homelink rep: "GM randomly switched from Homelink to Lear in some of their vehicles"....
