Default Padded console lid

I am thinking a installing a padded console lid. Not sure whether to install a new lid, or a padded cover. Would appreciate hearing from some of you, and what brand/type did you install?

DSV's! It is very soft, a lot better looking than the cheaper covers.

Go with a new padded lid, the covers in my opinion are too bulky looking and not as nice as the padded lid.

What's the difference? It was my understanding that all of the products on the market were covers that you would install over top of your normal cover, and then screw down to the console lid like the OEM cover did.

I'm thinking about getting the Ecstasy leather cover from leatherseats.com, can't decide if I want to do leather or Alcantara on the armrest though.

DSV exchanges your original lid for theirs with leather/embroidery of your choice.

Best way to go IMHO and the improved comfort is worth the price/minimal effort all by itself.

I prefer the self-installed cover from Mid America or (I think) Corvette Mods, etc. It is lightly padded but I bought a cheap thin Pilates mat, about 1/8", cut a piece to cover the top of the factory lid and then installed the cover over that. Total cost about $100, installation time including the extra padding was less than an hour of easy work.

Particularly, I like the fact that I can add or remove padding if I wish. The cover is held in place by the factory screws and looks factory.

Just got the DSVettes padded console cover. It is thicker and more comfortable than OEM, however with the 4LT, I like/miss the texture of the OEM console cover better (looks more high end). It seems like the OEM leather is thicker. The color match is pretty close as well. Good luck with your decision.

I choose to order replacement console lid from gm accessories because IMO the covers are too bulky and over "stuffed". Ordered from gm parts warehouse
