I would have let her know that the environmental foot print that goes into making a Prius is larger than what goes into making a Vette (Fuel cost to ship stuff, manufacturing etc etc)

Yes it gets better gas mileage but that's about it (Since the Vette has modern smog stuff)

I really wouldn't pay any attention to somebody like that, as most driving these these cars are nut jobs. Personnally I think batteries suck myself, and try to avoid them at all costs. Have one cordless tool in my household, and never any more. Find the batteries just aren't that reliable, especially after a few years. Don't know if you've heard, but since more hybrids are availible now, Prius sales have fallen off this year like a cliff. Darn.

The Prius has one of the lowest percentages who would buy again and the Corvette is just the opposite...one of the highest.

In the landfill business I deal with these type of people daily. They all want zero waste and zero emissions. They don't have a frick'n clue how to get there but they just want to b*tch. She is lucky she didn't run into me. I have to play nice M-F but on the weekend she would have gotten how I really feel.

You should have asked her where her batteries would go when they died or where the power used to charge her car came from........more to the equation than car emissions but some people have tunnel vision.
