Default Strange noise in the rear :}

2010 GS. Leaving the shop yesterday, I backed up and pulled forward out the gate. It sounded like I was dragging something under the car. Got out to close the gate, got down and looked under the car, nothing. Drove home with no more noise.

My wife drove it today and said she could hear what she says was a scraping noise when she hit a dip in the road. She thought the tire was hitting something. I checked it out and could find nothing.

I have seen post on here about axel nuts or something like that. What does that sound like?

My 2006 made a noise and was the clutch packs in the rear end.
There is a service order out to change the fluid to new type and that solves the problem. Not sure if that's your noise without hearing it!.

Had that once and saw the wife in the trunk (must have left her from the previous day) - floor the car and open the trunk; problem goes away.

Are you sure you are not scraping the front air dam? Most do when going down a driveway or a did in the road. Even worse for lowered cars.

What rear diffuser and exhaust is on your C6. It is real cool.

Update. Seems it only does it when the car has been sitting 7+ hours. First start it up, put in in reverse and it sounds like you are dragging something. My wife thinks it sounds like something contacting the rear tire. I checked that. Nothing close to the tire.

After a minute, it will not do it until it sits a while, like long enough for everything to get cold.

We are planning a trip to San Diego next weekend. We were going to take my wifes car, but it is still in the body shop for repairs. If it is not done in time, we were going to take the GS, but now this noise.

First, let me say I do not know.

Having said that, I know a lot of noise from the rear problems in the past have been resolved by checking the axle nuts, changing the rear differential fluid, and checking the end links on the rear sway bar.

Good luck.
