Default 19/20 wheels on 2008 base c6

I have just purchased a black 2008 c6. The previous owner had a 20/22 set up. the look of the set up actually looks good but the rear tires rub when you hit bigger bumps. this really bothers me.

Currently it has 255/30/20 in front and 295/30/22 in rear. first, does anybody know of a mod to do that would allow me to keep this set up and have it not rub?

if not, i would like to switch to a 19/20 set up. I was thinking of doing

275/30/19 front
295/30/20 rear

Thoughts?

It has bolts on the suspension to raise and lower the vehicle. You could try raising it some so it won't rub.

Depending on the brand / style, we normally do the following setups:

F - 265/30-19
R - 305/25-20

OR

F - 255/35-19
R - 295/30-20

(The bottom one is closest to OEM diameter in both front / rear, but either works fine with no issues at all)

Visit:
www.supervettes.com or www.corvette-wheels.com for wheels / tires.

Sign up for an account at photobucket.com, it's free. Upload the pictures from your computer, and photobucket will give you the [IMG] links that you can copy and paste right into your posts here. They also have a darn good app for your smartphone too.

I would just switch to 19/20, 20/22 takes away too much performance IMHO.

Throw a set of Z sways on it and Bilsteins. Should reduce rub and maybe scrub overall.

I'd tend to agree... but I'm willing to give it a chance.

I'm with the others recommending you switch to 19/20's.

The very low aspect ratio required with 22's means you're in for a harsh ride and a lifetime of avoiding potholes/etc.

If it's more of a show car than the high performance sports car it was intended to be, then stay with what you've got and raise/stiffen the suspension so the fenders won't rub.

There have been posts/pics of C6's running 24's, so it's possible, if that's what you're after.

I appreciate everyones responces. And I am the first to admit that the 22's are a little much. Having said that, I would really appreciate some additional feedback on the specifics of the 19/20 set up instead of just saying to switch.

Also, the wheels that are on it now are Savini black di forza's. Is there a market to sell these (and the tires on) they are all in good shape.

Here is a picture. I will post more later. This is the most responsive forum I have ever been on. I am really impressed with everyone's willingness to help out.

This is how you lower it, just go the other way on the bolts to raise it.

The 275/30/19 & 295/30/20 won't work. You have to keep the staggered diameters between Front and Rear. Lots of advantages to a smaller wheel/tire;, less cost, better selection, less weight and better appearance.

For a selection of what sizes will substitute for the stock 245/40/18 F & 285/35/19 R use this site;

What do you mean it won't work? How is his current sizes working then 255/30/20 and 295/30/22. I now at least 5 c6s running 30 series front and back 19/20 combo. No active handling or any other issues.

I run the following setup with no issues at all.

wheels are vossen vvs 087
Front tires 275 30 19
Rear tires 305 25 20

from what im told you want to keep the rolling diameter even not tilted. So because my wheels are 19 in front and 20 in the rear I have to have a slightly taller tire up front to compensate for the slightly larger wheel in the rear.

Oh btw those wheels look really nice and give your car a "slammed" look which is hot. See if you can find a shop to raise your rear a bit. Considering your not having any issues with your tcs and the wheels have been on there for a while I don't see any reason why you shouldn't at least try to keep your current setup.
