Low Speed Rear Chatter
Bought my 08 a few months ago with only 1500 miles on it. Had that rear end chatter from day one! Took it in and the service tech showed me GM document #09-04-20-01D which also relates to Buliten 07-04-20-002! Bottom line it says to drain and fill with P/N 88862624! Well I had them do that and NO MORE NOISE, but it cost me $100 to have it done! Gonna go talk to the service mgr tmw I thnk GM should foot the bill!!

Did you have the axle nuts replaced? If not, they should have been.

A TSB is not a recall. If you didn't buy an extended warranty, they will have no reason to pay for a minor repair on an 8 year old car.

$100.00 to do this is a reasonable price. I replaced the manual transmission fliuid and differential fluid myself for $80.00. Paying someone to do it at that price is not bad at all. You may want to do about 8 figure 8's in a parking lot to make sure the new fluid gets worked into the clutch packs as well.

Only $100 and the dealer fixed the problem? You should be thanking them, not complaining to them. Because if you do,the next time you go in for something they will remember you not by your name, but by here comes the "azzhole"

MY2008 was the last year to get the crappy GM diff fluid fill. MY2009 and newer got the vastly improved DEXRON LS fluid (part #88862624). It is very rare to hear about a MY2009 vette or newer having diff clutch chatter. Very common for MY2008 and older.

It doesn't surprise me that it made the chatter considering how much sitting around the car has done over the last eight years. If the car had been driven and it had done it back in '09, '10 or '11, it would have been covered under warranty. $100 is reasonable for the job. You're good, now enjoy driving it!
My '07 did it back in '09, only when it was cold and I was backing out turning sharp.

it was only a TSB and would not be covered out of warranty, like others said you got a decent deal for $100
if you do decide to do the axle nuts then you can do them yourself quite cheap and easily

A 2008 car you purchased used and you want gm to do it for free. You should be glad they didn't charge you a diagnostic fee on top of the repair.

The hourly rate is $140 so you didn't even get charged for labor. I'm sure that was the cost of the fluid.
If they told me $100, I'd throw down a Benjamin and burn rubber out of there and never look back before they realized the mistake they made.

A vette sitting as a garage queen is certainly a candidate for diff chatter. But my 06Z was a daily driver getting 50 mile round trips to the office 3 to 5 days a week. It still developed chatter within the first 20k miles and was so loud as to wake the dead. Dealer did a fluid change (prior to the introduction of DEX LS) and it only helped for a few weeks. I did a DIY with AMSOIL Severe Gear and it immediately stopped the chatter and it never returned for the next 3 years when I sold the car to get the ZR1.

Well thats definitely interesting. I'm sure there are multiple opinions on how and why the axle nuts are intertwined with the clutches in the diff...(and i'm sure we will soon here many....LOL)....but not sure changing the nuts after only 1500 miles is what the "Experts" at GM had in mind......
