I found a 08 corvette with 60k miles bit about 10k miles ago engine, clutch and pressure plate was replaced by chevy under warranty because of a emgine knock. Price is fair but what u guys think about future resale value and having the engine replaced. Should i buy it or wait?

It kinda depends on what you have to pay for it. If you get it cheap and expect to sell cheap, then buy it...it will never be a collector car.

Replacement done by GM wouldn't be an issue for me but might be for some. If the "fair" price is more in your favor than the seller's that would make it better.

The tune for the headers likely kills the powertrain warranty of the GMPP, not much experience there. And most people who mod their car that way, use all the horses. Frequently.

More significant for me would be what kind of replacement engine was installed. Some people actually get a new engine, others get a GM-approved rebuilt. I did some research on the company that was doing the rebuilds, and the reviews were not encouraging.

The performance mods are usually not worth much since if not done properly could be a headache.

The price seems to be good. A grand or couple less and it should be a sweet deal. Hope they are providing extended warranty on the engine and related components.

Just don't expect great resale if that really is a concern. Everything else seems good to go. I say - bite it.

what's the price? w/o that, who knows?

and what prices are you seeing for a 60K mile, '08 similarly equipped that makes this car a deal for you? in other words, what are the comparables?

on the face of it, depending on how long you intend to keep the car, a new engine, clutch, etc. is not a deal breaker esp. if installed correctly--and one would hope a GM dealer would do it right. also, w. a shakedown cruise of 10K miles unless something is dramatically wrong, it's all been corrected already, or it's a lemon. which is it from your driving it?

remember, this is already a six year old car, with max depreciation in resale value pretty much fully done. a few more years and if it hasn't bottomed out already, it will be.

Bluebook for 08 corvette with 65k miles in good condition from a private seller is about 26k So I'm not really getting a deal, I'm kinda on a fence if that new engine is a good thing or a bad thing. I also didn't know that they might have put in a rebuilt engine, I thought it was new . I don't I think I just might keep looking.

He put that 10K on 1/4 mile at a time.

I think I would find a different car 25K for an 08 it seems about right.
You may even find one cheaper with less miles.

The mods make it worth less

You can probably find a low mile '08 for a few more thou which is what I would do. You did the right thing by asking here first. It's a buyers market. Keep on reading here to educate yourself. You may find a low mi c6 on this site

With all the Corvettes out there to buy,why bother with this one???MODS mean nothing for resale other then lowering the price and making it unattractive to future buyers,as well as a rebuilt or new engine, even though it was done by GM.If they were selling it for 20 grand maybe..but AT 25.5 it's not worth it.

Yes that it very true, I wish I could find a low mileage 08 for 27k. I buy it in a heart beat but it seems impossible.

Dont be so wrapped up on mileage. My old c5 had 172k on it when I sold it and my friends 01 z06 had 138k. Regularly had the dog crap beaten out of them and saw redline nearly everytime they were driven.

That being said I just bought a 3lt z51 08 convertible 6-speed with 85k miles for 26,777. Cars bone stock and an absolute monster.

Yes the mileage is not important but from what I've been reading after on the forum after being a member for 2 months is that high mileage vettes are very hard to sell. I just don't wanna end up in couple years down the road wanting to sell it and then lose my *** on it cuz of mileage.

Only one type of person will buy a Vett and they are very few .The Dlr knows that and dlrs only get a certian amount of vetts a year based on their overall sales. That being said.I saw my vett on the lot almost 7 mths ago,I went in about 3 weeks ago and gave them 29k with 40k on the spedo and drove away. You can get what you want at a good price .
The Black vett has been at the same chevy dlr for a year and a half now and will most likely be their next year, it's a bad color for the weather over here.don't get in a hurry!!

Apparently my 108K '08 with bolton mods is already worthless. There are several of us with those high mileage junkers that somehow, beyond all odds, just keep on going. I've even made around 500 passes down the 1/4 mile, and driven it in 47 states, sometimes in the rain and snow. It's so used up, that I probably would have to pay someone to take it, but not before it passes the 200K mark.

So why do I still get people taking pics and asking if it's brand new?

I would think a new engine would be a good thing. I guess it just depends on the buyer.
