Default Grand Sport Stripes over Clear Bra

I purchased a 2012 Grand Sport used that has a clear bra installed. I like the protection and coverage that it provides but would also like to add the Grand Sport stripes to my car.
At this point I have two options:
1. Remove the clear bra on the fenders and install the decals.
2. Install the decals over the clear bra.

My question is can I go with option 2? Are there issues with installing the decals on the clear bra or will it cause a problem? I have read that putting the clear bra over decals is a no-no.

Thanks, Chris

Think about it this way, what is the cost of the clear bra vs. the Grand Sport stripes?

I mention this because as soon as you have to pull the clear bra it's going to cost the price of both to put back on.

I think the only problem with putting the clear bra over the decals, is it will make any matte decals glossy, and it may cause a ghosting outline around the decals on dark colored cars.

If the stripes will be on there for good, I'd put them under the clear bra.

Contact your clear bra installer? I don't think you would wnat to apply strips over the material....your installer will know.

I purchased the car with the clear bra installed and don’t know what material was used or who put it on. I have not been able to find any markings on the material.
I am leaning toward just pulling it off the fenders and leaving the rest.

Thanks, Chris

I ended up selling the GS stripes I bought because of a similar dilemma. I may have them painted on at some point, the factory stripes are expensive and I was not sure the clear bra would be able to be removed without taking the decals with it.

My clear bra installer laid the clear bra around the stripes (cut out the clear bra, didn't overlay) and did a great job of it.

That sounds like the optimal solution, I currently have clear bra on the car and the stripes in a box. I think that I will remove the clear bra, install the stripes and have new clear bra installed around the stripes afterward.

Thanks for the info, Chris

I install paint protection film over the stripes all the time. There are no issues with it unless the stripes are matte... then I seem the film up to the stripes. The stripes can be damages and for the ridiculous price you are paying for them why not protect them to??? If the clear bra needs to be removed it can be without damaging the stripes. I have been doing this 12 years now without any issues.

I had the same thing done with my 60th Anniversary stripes. It butts up against them perfectly. My installer advised me not to place it over the stripes as damage to the stripes might occur if you remove the clear bra and water/dirt can get under the clear bra in the area near the stripes.

I just ordered the cheapie stripes from a forum vendor last week, I hadn't even considered the clear bra so I guess I'll have to put mine over the top.

mine went on over the bra just fine. A little time with a hair dryer to heat them up and work down into the edge of the bra and it doesn't look too bad at all

I have installed clear bra over a wrapped front end for a road trip then removed it later just fine. The key is to pull the clear bra back on its self at as sharp of an angle as possible to prevent it from removing whatever is underneath it.

I cut my clear bra around the edges of the GM Heritage Edition GS stripes. I would not recommend putting stripes on top of the clear bra. The location is not particularly susceptible to damage, so I would carefully measure, cut and remove the clear bra where the stripes will go. The OEM stripes come with an alignment to the headlights, so it isn't hard to figure out where to ct.
