[QUOTE=slolane;1583777370Check the fast list on the zr1 and z06 forums not a single auto over there yet some pretty good times. Some of those times might suprise some guys with autos at the strip[/QUOTE]
Could it be neither the ZR1 or the ZO6 comes with an automatic?

While that maybe true my point is even a manual can turn good times at the strip.
I stand corrected sir. I had no idea the zr1 was offered in auto unless you are talking a modded car. But I am sure you are talking about a stock car as thats what this tthread was about

Living in Florida with the sun beating on my head I couldn't bare to use a convertible...now however, the few times I do want it, I'd just take my roof off. I couldn't bare to have a sports car as a convertible for the softer suspension and added weight.
Maybe if I had two I'd consider it but since I have just the one...no vert and M6.

Not comparing the same type of auto's though. They are not a conventional tc style.
What turns in faster time at the track? And no....your GM numbers dont mean jack.
Wow, that was an option on the ZR? The more you know.

Actually, original question was which tranny to choose, not with is faster in the 1/4 mile in stock trim..... This thread was hijacked....lol. I simply pointed out that a auto ZR1 does exist. Btw....I voted manual.....

Just kidding guys as I stated before my c5 was a modded auto my stock c6 is a manual. So I get both sides and some of my best friends have autos and I still hang with them

Young guy tuning in here. My sport cars have always been manual, my commuter car (06 civic) is automatic to handle that L.A traffic, no one wants to drive a manual in bumper to bumper freeway traffic. No matter how much you love your car.

We were in Ireland about 15 years ago. I was talking to an 80 year old lady and asked if they had cars with automatic transmissions. Even the high end Mercedes and BMWs were all stick shift. She replied in a very serious, sincere manner, "Oh yes, we have cars with automatic transmissions for the invalids." I had a good chuckle to myself. Back in '68 I had a warmed over Ram Air 400 automatic Firebird and that car was a barrel of fun. Then I had a COPO 427 4 speed Chevelle and that too was a fun car as was the stick L78 396 Chevelle that we sold last year. Our 2005 Jimmy is a five speed. Having driven stick shift cars all these years, it has become pretty well second nature and isn't even a problem in heavy traffic. The six speed was at the top of our priority list when looking for a car. After a year of driving the car we have no regrets at all. My wife enjoys driving the car as much as I do.

They sure do..... and when they get beat down at the track its much worse in person. Reminds me back in the day when all the turbo Buick guys would hammer down on the stick shift cars of that time... some cars are FAST with a manuel im not sure what the fastest 6 speed GM LS car is but i promise you a manuel wont be winning any LS shootouts any time soon I love having an auto i think its fun as hell... i have had many stick cars they do have a place, back roads and road racing for sure.... role racing is still open for a long debate both are fun and have a place... my wifes CTSV is a blast in a six speed that car is perfect the way it is... some times it just sucks to shift when you have been doing it for so long.
