Have purchased two Vettes from Carmax. The price was in line with the norm and the price is no haggle, period.
The entire transaction took less than one hour.
IMO(left off the "H" in that my opinions are generally not humble) they are a quality outfit.

I won't recommend CarMax based on my buying experience. yes, i didn't end up buying at Carmax. i would say you will find better deal, better condition and good price elsewhere. Not at Carmax for sure.

Well I recently sold them My SSR and got $19500.... more than anybody else offered and they outright bought it...
It was still sitting there when I was Vette shopping with a no haggle price of $23999.... If that tells you about the mark up....
They are truley movers of Metal... If they can't sell it it goes to auction and they get their money back, and they are one of the biggest auction customers in the country if not the biggest.

CarMax never seems to have any cars priced fairly.
They are all over-priced and the no haggle makes the whole deal feel wrong.
I guess if you are an in-experienced car buyer who doesn't want to research cars and wants to have a little warranty assurance then CarMax is a good one stop shop.
If you want to get a good deal and save money, you will always shop around and research all of your options.
Buying from an individual would be the best choice.
Most private sellers actually like their car and care about it going to a good home.
I know when I am selling a car on AutoTrader, I make sure everything is right with the car.
The last thing I want is the new owner to me disappointed in the car and pissed at me for not telling them.
If my car has issues, I just trade them to the dealership and cut my losses.
I have sold a couple of cars to CarMax.
They give you GOOD KBB trade-In Value.
CarMax is not loosing any money with their sales model.

Carmax is fine if you do your research on the car and prices. I would buy from them again without hesitation with the right set of circumstances, plus they have a huge fleet of cars to choose from.

IME CarMax prices are fair, but not great. Their prices are no haggle, so you lose the ability to beat the dealer up on price. You skip the whole fake talking to managers thing, save a ton of time, and you're going to get a fair, but not amazing deal from them pretty consistently.

I'd stay far away from CarMax. They jack up MSRP by 25%. If your trading they will low ball the **** out of your trade. I have bought my 3 vettes from One dealer in my area. Toy Store Corvettes in Largo Fl.
They get clean vettes at reasonable prices. Also there is a big dealer in Texas, just don't remember the name. (found them on ebay)..If your purchasing with cash, I'd hit Ebay. There are a lot of vettes there up for sale. And if possible, try to get a vette from the deep south. Our weather is very forgiving on Corvettes. Good luck.
