I used the system from Innovative Automotive Products. It mounts behind the driver's side lower vent in the splitter. Pops in and out very easily. I got mine from Zip. Kind of pricy at $159 but well engineered. The bracket is invisible behind the splitter until you pop the plate carrier into the the bracket. No holes to drill because the front uses the stock 7mm bolts holding the splitter. The back of the bracket mounts to the skid on the front.

Get the TopFlight with the color bracket.. you will soon forget you even have a front plate on...

Also, my brother is a cop and he rolls people without front plates!!

PS - White license plates look better than the rest though....

No it is in the back cubby.

Got pulled over by DPS while driving my son's GTI(no front plate). Just told him the MFG made no provisions for a front plate. He walked to the front and checked it out then told me it was still MY responsability to get it mounted. No ticket or written warning. Tx legislature screwed up and removed the penality for no front plate, so they can not give a ticket for it till it gets put back on the books.

It is a non moving violation, $75 I think. I will just pay it if the time comes.

I used the Top Flight with the body colored frame. It stays on at Warp speed, and never any heating problems traveling through desert areas at somewaht less than Warp 1.

I have this one as well (without the frame) Well worth the price, easy install and its removable in seconds if you need it off. And of course most importantly... NO HOLES IN THE CAR

Default Front Plate in Washington State

I live near the town of Eatonville where the city officers pet peeve is license plates and will give you one free one on the rear license plate if it is covered by a trailer ball and the second stop you pay the ticket. So because of this I went with the fold down plate which is now illegal due to people trying to save a buck going over bridges in Seattle. So plus is its fairly easy to mount and a small drill is needed and the electrical hookup is just two wires. Bad side is that the mount sits very low and can get damaged quite easily. I had to send it back for very minor road rash. In the down position there is more clearance. They are sold by several outfits but made by Altec products in Minnesota. If I had it to do over again I would get the non motorized one to keep it simple.

In my area I have never seen a C6 with a front plate. I have never been stopped for it. I had no front plate on my Sky either and was never stopped. Putting the plate in the windshield is not legal here as it is not properly displayed. It makes them notice you and you will get a ticket. Everybody I know who got a ticket here had it in the windshield. I got a warning for a dark cover on my front plate over by Yakima from WSP but the cover is still there and no other problems. I would take it off but I don't have the filler. Anyone have a black one they want to sell?

I also use the topflight. Didn't like the looks of the matching frame. The frame is to big IMO. Bought a pair of bare metal aftermarket frames and a rattle can color match paint. About $12.

Motorized hide-a-way. If I see a cop, I just put it up remotely. If I get caught with it hidden I thank the cop
and tell him I just washed the car and car washes tear the plate off.. I then ask him if it is showing now??
He looks and say yes and thinks its cool how it works...Ed

I too live in a state that requires a front plate. This is what I use. I ordered the mount from the Corvette Museum on-line store for around $20.00 I haven't been pulled over yet. A friend of mine has the same thing, and has never been stopped.

I have the same problem, im in canfield ohio. I bought the one that is manual and slides under the lower grille opening. I now have the motorized one and just love it. Its great toy. Freeks everone out when i hit the button and the plate flips up. If i get stopped ill just tell them "it must have came down on its own. Great fun for a little bucks. Just do it - you'll love it.

Thanks, everyone. I've gotten some great help here at this forum already and I appreciate it.
I like the non permanent option with the Top Flight mount. Meanwhile, I sent a copy of the New York State proposed legislation doing away with front license plate requirements to my State representative here in Wisconsin. He's going to introduce a proposal here. I figure if New York is willing to get rid of the requirement then any state should be with exception of kalifornia and maybe vermont.

Another fan of the National Corvette Museum mount here, like Red08. I've had that plate mount and have driven past many state patrol doing enhanced enforcement and never an issue.
