Car Insurance.. Any Suggestions. Part Time Use
Hello all,
I only put a few thousand miles per year on my car but my insurance is nearly $1,000 per year. Unlike my 1970 Chevelle that had classic car insurance for $300 per year, I cannot seem to find anything similar for my vette. Can anyone offer any advice on this matter. Does anything like that exist. I found one company that offered parade insurance for driving to a parade etc but they were so particular, she said I could not even stop at the grocery store on the way home or it might not be covered.
Thanks, Jason

As mine is not my DD State Farm charges me based on the number of miles I drive, which I have to report to them quarterly. Full coverage for me is about $40 a month....I drove about 4K last year.

You do not state your age category which is a major factor as well as your driving record. I have had Nationwide in Calif for over 30 years. My C6 is under $250 every 6 months with a totally clean record. I normally list 5,000 miles per year.

Try one of the specialty companys like grundy or hargerty they are reasonably cheap. We were going that route but switched to erie and saved a boatload on all our autos and home.

My wife, who happens to also be my insurance agent, just put us with Safeco. 2011 coupe, 375.30 a year. 500,000/500,000 liability limits

checkout American collectors in NJ. you can go right to their website and plug in your info online. they can do a similar policy that your chevelle has for low mileage, stated value, depending upon how you want it structured.

Try Wawanesa Ins co. They're out of San Diego and you deal with them direct. Excellent service and I had a few claims on other cars of mine. They pay out real well. I never paid more than $500 a year for the vette with very high coverage and you know insurance premiums are sky high here in CA.

You will straight up crap your pants once you find out how much you were overpaying compared to what these guys can do for you.
I'm 31, I have one speeding ticket on record, my wife has one speeding ticket and 2 accidents in the last year, and our insurance was going to be $2100 through Progressive...called up NCM and with a 3000 mile allowance (only drive about 1000 anyway), they did $670. Yeah...69% savings. Furthermore, if I didn't have to insure my wife since we were married, it would have only been $430.
The only real catch with them is that every person that is of driving age in your household has to have their own vehicle. The vehicle you insure them cannot be your daily driver therefore they have to assume that each person has another vehicle. Shouldnt issue with most people here, however it is something they require and they even needed proof before they will offer the policy. We had to email our declarations page from Progressive showing our other two vehicles.
Still...CANT BE BEAT.
