I'd say "a bad start to your day" was an understatement. I'm sorry about the damage to your car (and about the dead deer) but most importantly, I'm glad you're OK. Hitting a deer can cause an unreal amount of damage to person and property. With the height of the C6 you were fortunate not to have been injured. I'm sure the car can be restored to 'good as new' condition. Good luck on the repairs!

No air bag deployment. The impact was on the corner although the deer did go airborne and bounced off the windshield. The carcass landed about 20' to the right facing away from the car so it was spun around 180* after impact.

"In honor of jpee"
wow, broke the suspension. good thing the deer bounced/slid off the windshield. they are killers, I've read, if they go thru. maybe the raked angle of the windshield helped.

My daughter travels through a large state park in Tennessee commuting to work daily. She is constantly being harassed by deer. A few years ago one got her right front fender and passenger door. The insurance company wouldn't fix it because apparently there was a rider on her policy that stated the vehicle had to have "glass damage" to qualify for repair coverage. She told me next time she was going to break all the windows and pose the deer on the hood. She absolutely hates deer now.

Eglin AFB?? I would have thought you would hit an alligator first. I was at Hulbert field YEARS ago in my 77 Trans Am and went by the golf course. I saw a sign that said to watch for gators and was like "Yeah Right" Sure enough I had to stop and go around one that was sunning itself on the road.....
Really sucks hitting the dear (I hit one in my Trans Am going 70+MPH on the interstate in VA once and apparently there is a law in VA that allows you to keep what you hit. Cop asked me did I want to keep it. I told him "Sure let's strap it to the hood" I was glad that it was dead though because I would have hated to explain to the officer why there was a 10mm hole in it from me putting it down (I was moving from Arkansas to Ft Meade Maryland and had my guns in the car with me at the time)
