The Battery Protection Tender Device
I know we have discussed the Battery Protection Option several times. in the past. I think this became available in the 2011 Corvette model year. The question that came up this week at our weekly get together is, will the cigarette lighter device work in 2010 and older Corvettes. I am talking about plugging into the Cigarette Lighter instead of hooking up to the Battery itself. Plugging into the cigarette lighter would be a lot easier than hooking up to the battery every time. I guess the question is, did Chevrolet make a change for the 2011 and newer Corvettes or will this cigarette lighter device work for maybe all C6's. Thanks in advance for your answers ...

I bought it just a few months ago for my 2006 and it works as expected.
No problems with it, and it only comes with Cigarette Lighter connection, so no option to connect directly to the battery anyway.
I'm talking specifically about the GM/Corvette "Battery Protection" accessory

Plug into the center console outlet and leave the console lid open... effective reminder to disconnect it before driving away.
And you can run the cord thru the notch in the door sill:
Just make sure you don't crimp the cord -- it should move easily when the door is closed.

I don't have the lighter adapter for my older Ctek but it has done an excellent job of maintaining all my batteries for over six years now.

I went a bit further and put the tender up on my garage door opener so that the cord hangs down from the ceiling and goes in the window. There is a vacant electric plug up there and it makes it so there is no cord to trip over. I unplug it and hang the cord there when I drive the car...easy to reconnect to the cig plug in the console when I return. Just keep it clear of the opener's chain or belt and all is good.

YOU CAN BUY A BATTERY TENDER JR FOR 35 BUCKS OR SO THAT does just as good a job.I got the GM one with my new car and it plugs into the power port or the lighter and does the exact same thing my 30 dollar battery tender jr has been doing for several years now on my other Vette's before this one.

I took a scrap piece of wire and used that to test each notch, verifying that the wire could be slid easily. Now I can use the proper one(s).
When our garage is cold; the wiring gets pretty stiff, much more than some of the other electrical items out there. These things are from Sweden, don't they have winter over there? Or maybe the Chinese manufacturer uses recycled condoms for the insulation. Anyway, sometimes I need to use a piece of tape to ensure that the wire won't shift out of the notch as I close the door.
