Who went from a base to a grand sport;big handling difference?
I am considering trading in my '12 coupe and getting a '13 GS. Is there a big difference in the handling and the ride and is the upgrade worth it. Some good feedback will probably sway my decision.

I went from a base '10 coupe to a '11 GS vert. Yes there is a big difference in handling and not much difference in ride. To me the base was kinda floaty and leaned in the tight turns. The GS is totally tied down to the ground and off ramps are much more confident taken at 10mph faster than the base. It is stiffer but I think the wider tires help a lot also.

I just went from an 07 Coupe to a new 12 GS and I would say the car is 20% more refined in all ways. Coming from a 12 Coupe the difference would be a little less because of the improvements from 07 to 12 but the GS is a tight handling package and I am more than glad I made the change. The bigger brakes and tires defiantly make a difference in the cars handling and it will only get better after the stock GY get replaced be Michelins. As far as the looks…well the GS looks very. Good luck with your decision. Both are great cars but you can put my vote with the GS!

GS vs base
The GS is a better handling and stopping ride but you have to like glitz. Buy a ZO6 if you want the real deal. If performance is your thing you will never regret the choice. If you need a topless ride than a GS is a better but less performance oriented choice. A GS is just fine indeed but those ceramic brakes, suspension and a 427 well. You get the picture.

I dont know about the handling between the two cars but the MONEY FACTOR to upgrade from a 2012 coupe to a 2013 GS coupe would be ridiculous and would not be worth it to me .JMHO GOOD LUCK DAVE.

Actually quite the opposite. I have been having ongoing discussions with tommy jr. this week and I could pick up a 2LT GS for about $15,000 off msrp with all the rebates.

You hit it right on the head! My car and $8000 and I'm out the door. I will probably do the deal when I call him back Monday. It's sort of a no brain er for me.

Just went from a base vert to a 2013 Grand Sport. The handling is much more precise and the ride is a bit firmer (but not harsh). I have magnetic ride control and I thought that I would always keep it in tour mode, but have gotten used to it and keep it in sport mode most of the time.
It does take some time getting used to the handling of the wider wheels and different tires.
The base is a great car, the GS allows you to push the limits a bit more.

Do get the magnetic ride control if you can. That makes the car unbelievable, you have the option for a very nice comfortable ride and the tight and firm handling when you want. If you are getting a manual, you will also get the GY F1 generation 2 tires which are far superior the regular F1 supercar GY's that come standard on base and automatic GS's.

Seems from you guys replies the GS is the way to go. Looks like Tommy Jr will be getting my call tomorrow and telling him I want the car we discussed. '13 GS 2LT in torch red 6 sp manual, chrome wheels, two tone red interior, red calipers, ZR1 spoiler and NPP. If i were to order the car this would have been the exact way I would have done it and he has this car in stock.

I did just this past Tuesday. All my c6's were narrow body but only the last 2 08's were base suspension. This car feels different for sure. Not sure if it's the seats,of which I have not removed the plastic yet , or that it just feels slightly bigger or what but it does feel different.
