Anybody drive convertible without sun visors?
Maybe it's just me, but I can't stand the sun visors when my convertible top is down. They add to the thickness/height of the header and I think they look kind of goofy.
Has anyone removed the sun visors and just run with them off?
If I do, I will have to fashion a cap to cover the hole where the stem and bezel are inserted.
Not sure if I am going to do it, just curious to hear from others...
Thanks!

Absolutely!
I am a tall guy (6'4") and I don't care for them either and where they come to "rest" when the top is down. I never really thought about it, but I frequently point both of them straight out, rather than all the way up. This way I only see the side "thinnest" profile of it....but a little bit of wind buffeting and the pop back up. They usually stay in place though.
However to answer your question, I did consider removing them but didn't because of the Homelink remote.

I've got a coupe, and when the top is off the visors stick out. They remind me of Mickey Mouse ears. I point mine down. It's not ideal, but I like it better than having them stick up.

A lot is two words
I ride motorcycles too and fashion a sun visor on my full face helmet like F1 drivers do.
I buy convertibles to drive when the weather is nice. Often this requires a cap on my head, sunglasses and windshield visor to do safely.

I like the way the visors look when the top is down. It reminds me of my C3s. Whenever you took the tops off, you pushed the visors up so they extended above the top of the windshield frame. All 'vette drivers did it. It was part of the "look" of a topless Corvette.

I removed both sun visors for the same reasons..they make the header that much thicker & blocked my view & I haven't needed them the entire year since removal.
They're easy to remove & there's a DIY w/ pics here on CF. To cover the holes, Michael's arts/crafts has .16" thick, 8.5"x11" sheets of black self-adhesive foam pad ($.99, or buy online).
You'll cut two 1.25" inch round pieces for the hinge holes, & two 1"x1.5" pieces to cover the retainer post holes & you're done. I also inserted a piece of .5" thick foam up into the square retainer holes to keep the foam covers firm to the touch.
