Default Rear Wide Body Conversion.

Does anyone have experience with only doing the rear conversion on a coupe, but still changing all four wheels to the Z06 size. I have been told that since the front tires are only a little larger than the base vette's they would fit.

And I plan on doing the front conversion further down the road, with ACI fenders so that I can keep the stock bumper. but I want to put the new rims on after the rear is done.

I think maybe you heard wrong.

You can use the Z06 front wheels WITH standard C6 front tires, but not Z06 front tires.

Thanks for the info. I am surprised the base size tires will fit the Z06 rim with no problems.

Check out this thread for a somewhat related discussion. Be sure to click on the link in post #6. Regular C6 tires probably look a little stretched on Z06 wheels, but the sidewall angling inward probably keeps them from cracking the front fenders.

A 245 tire will fit a z06 or GS size time and sit flush with the narrow body fenders.

I ran a grand sport rim and tire (275-35-18)on the front of my narrow body car for a year without any problems and it was lowered. Until, I was able to buy and install the front widebody. They stuck out about a 1/4 of an inch. mcandrew67 did the same with his car for years also.

BTW, use GM body panels and save yourself problems.

yup, did it too... mine is lowered a lot. Mind you, roads are flat and pretty smooth in south FL.
I ran it like that for a couple years before I did the front.
Here was mine with stock z wheels and tires on front before I did the front conversion.

My wife's '08 has just the wide booty, has 345/30/19's on the rear, and looks great! It also has 275/35/18's in the front because Invos do not come in a 285 size. The size diff front/rear is slightly larger than "spec", but she's had no AH issues. Neither the fronts, nor rears, stick out. And no rubbing issues. The wheels are chrome, and we bought it with them on, so I don't know if they are stock Z06 offsets. I don't think the Z06 came with chrome wheels, so they most likely have different offsets.

I have a base C6 tire (245/40/18) on a Z06 sized rim (18x9.5). It is still the base C6 offset but the width is the same. I am doing a wide booty too and wanted to have Z06 sized rubber in all 4 corners. For the time being I am running the stock tire on the front. You can see it's a little stretched but it works fine.

Here is the best I could come up with

Okay newb here (i've got 2 Mustangs to sell before I can purchase a c6) and my buddy has got me turned onto the C6 since he did his rear "booty" conversion. Love the look.

I've heard some people say stick with the GM fenders and quarter panels but there HAS to be someone someplace in the aftermarket than manufacturers decent quality fitment and priced body panels - isnt there?

The rears are cheap from GM so stick with them, Don at SS-vette makes quality fit like OEM front fenders at a great price.

My front ZR1 style fenders are from him.

Evl Jake, i have an '07 black/black Z51 all stock and trying to decide wheels. I love those Zo6's you have. any issues w/the rear, as i see your rear end fenders are stock. I'm thinking about zr1 style mesh black w/red stripe or your wheels black w/red stripe. Any issues w/rear? offset in rear? i also want to run my same oem tires size as our stock wheels.

275/30/19 Nitto NT05's on the front and 345/30/19 Nitto NT05R's on the rear. Wheels are CCW SP16a in competiton grey. Bought the widebody kit from Gene Culley.

In that pic the rear wheels are 17x8.5" repros. I normally run 18x9.5 and 19x10 Z06 repros so even though they look like Z06 wheels, they are not the same size and offset. I bough them from JW motoring and the front offset is the same as stock but the rear is a few mm out which gives it a more aggressive look. I still use the stock tires for a base corvette. I had to buy 19x12 wheels in the Z06 offset to fit the car when I do the wide booty.

Z06 repros:

Correct sized Z06 wheels I bought:

Z06 rim and tire sizes front and rear on my rear wide body only. Been on for a few years now with no problems at all.
