Default Do all 2008 Corvettes have magnetic selective ride control?

I have seen both a 2005 Corvette and a 2008, the 2005 has magnetic selective ride control switch below the arm rest, the 2008 did not have it. But the 2008 had sport mode in the transmission? Does this mean that the 2008 has a f55 selective ride mode? Is the sport mode same as the 2005?
Also what are the differences between a 2005 corvette other than the bigger engine, steering wheel?

No the F55 as well as the Z51 were options not standard. The 2005 has a 4-speed automatic transmission were as in 2006 and up the Corvette's came with a 6-speed auto with paddle shifters. that is the Sports mode you are referring to. When you select sport mode the paddle shift is active.

Here is a link to the changes you asked for. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/1574306274-post11.html

The two options are totally different. The F55 in the '05 is suspension (nothing to do with the transmission) and the "S" mode in the '08 is the transmission shift control (nothing to do with the suspension).

Is driving it in the "S" mode feel the same as a F55 sport mode? Does it loosen up the shocks? Is it more power and handling than the 2005's sport mode?

READ the text of what you just quoted.

The '05 F55 is suspension (shocks) ONLY.

The '08 "S" mode of the A6 is transmission shifts ONLY.

They have NOTHING in common.

So basically, a 2005 Corvette on sport mode is faster, better performance and handling then a 2008 corvette on sport mode?

Lets see if I can try and clear this up.

In the 2005 model with the F55 the Sport mode you are referring to is on the selector switch for the suspension. That is used to tune the shocks. If the 2008 model does not have a selector switch on the console it has the basic suspension, but the transmission has a Sports mode, but it is only for the use of the paddle shifters, it has nothing to do with the suspension.

Now I would not say that the 2005 is faster then the 2008, simply because it has the F55 option. Don't forget the 2008 has more HP and different gearing with the 6-speed auto.

So finally to sum it up, the sports mode that you are talking about are completely different and they are not in any way the same.

Haven't read all the posts but sure they are the same: no, all '08s did not have F55. It was an option. There was base, F55 and Z51.

As to model differences, you may want to look in the stickies above C6 Gen. Basically, I'd say the differences betw 05 and '08 are manual trans, steering feel, engine, interior incl. steering wheel, optional exhaust dual mode, potential for mixing non-standard colors of interior and tops (for convertibles),, different auto trans, different wheel designs, etc.

Do any 2008 corvettes have magnetic selective ride control? I looked at a corvette and it seems really basic, I believe it's a 2LT model, it doesn't even have heads up display or heated seats.

Does your corvette have heads up display? I looked at a 2008 corvette and it looked like there was an outlet for HUD. But the owner said it didn't come with HUD although all 2008 corvettes are wired for it. Are all 2008 corvettes wired for HUD?

I am a previous, 2005 Corvette owner who is buying a 2008 model. When I test drove the F55 2005 and a base 2008, it seemed like the 2005 picked up faster and went 0 to 60 miles faster. Both had the same mileage. Both cars were automatic, is it because one is a 4 speed auto and the other is a 6 speed auto? is it the suspension differenced?

The 2008 coupes & verts have 30 more HP than the 2005 coupes & verts, so the 2005 is not faster - just your imagination. Forum members 1/4 mile times are in a thread in another forum. The fastest 2005 A4 is 12.56 sec @ 112 MPH. The fastest 2008 A6 is 11.82 sec @ 119 MPH.
