Matte Red Z06 - PlastiDip (Pics)

I like it. It is a rather unique look. For me, I loved DSOM from the first day I seen it on the promo Firebird in ~98, so I could never do it to my car.
I have watched the videos on plastidip from the guys in Jersey and its a cool product. Have you talked to anyone with it or seen it after a year of being on the car? I wonder how it will hold up to people brushing up against it, rock/debris impacts, and door dings.

I kinda like it... Its kinda cool to see something different.
The Matte finish tends to show off the lines of the car pretty good.
They said the lines on the C6 got some influence from the F-22 Raptor Stealth fighter. The matte finish on the car kind of highlights the angles and lines on the car and gives it that stealth look.

Yeah, thats what i heard of some guys paying to get Lambos wrapped. I know its a lot of labor, maybe thats where the extra cost is.

You can buy a gloss coat so this may be a great way to try out the halo look!

Sorry but to me it looks like a car that has been neglected for some twenty years.

I like it, except, as others noted, the shiny wheels and splitter. When I was looking at a silver C6, my plans were to immediately plastidip it.

The benefits of plasti dip is that is it inexpensive (relative), pretty easy to apply and if you don't like it you can wash it off at a car wash. It doesn't protect anywhere near as good as a good wrap does. It can flake off over time. A lot of people use it on smaller pieces instead of powder coat since it looks pretty good.

Thanks, the splitter is RPI's ZRAL in carbon fiber.
I have since pulled the dip off the car. The clear matte is a much thinner dip than the colored ones. I plan on buying two gallons of Matte Red and spraying the car at a friends pro paint booth and gun. Also plan to dip the wheels in a charcoal. Will post more pics when finished.

Interesting, but.. How does it come off, I hear it peels.. My concern would be over time and in the sun, it would hurt the original finish. I see this stuff alot, but just not a tend setter to try it. I appreciate the guys that do it, and I commend you but if it jacks up your car, its not cheap to repaint.
Its cool in its own way, but i prefer the slippery feel of mine. I also disagree and think the carbon and the matte contrast. I think its legitimate to see the mix. It offsets the colors. Too much matte and you lose the separation.

Did you buy the sprayer and kit from dip your car.com? I sprayed my 1970 dodge dart but i used a real paint gun and it came out splotchy and you can see strokes. Does the gun in the kit really make the difference? Also, how many coats did you do? And did you wipe the car with alcohol before hand or just clean it?
