Removing Axle back exhaust
Hey everyone,
Getting ready to put a axle back exhaust on my 2005 C6
How high do I need to have the rear end in the air to remove the existing exhaust without cutting the pipes?
Thanks in advance,
Emptydata

I put mine on stands.
I did have to remove the H pipe from the front of the car.
And you need to disconnect the shifter on the side of the AT, if you have AT.
All told it was an hour of work.

The higher the better. I had mine up on ramps in the front and about 16" on stands in the back. You have to twist and turn the oem mufflers to get them over the axle. I removed the rear hangers from the car. It made it easier to get the rubber mounts on and off the hangers. I did a complete cat back, so I'm not sure you need to drop the H pipe or not.

Dropping the sway bar helps a lot. I removed mine completely on both installs. One more thing out of the way.
Having all four corners in the air on stands simplifies the process.

I WILL SAY THE HIGHER OFF THE FLOOR THE BETTER.I DID MINE WITH A BUDDY USING BLOCKS OF WOOD and it took a few hours for the headers and exhaust swap, but it was doable.Lots of time on my back!!

I pulled off the SLP Loudmouth to install OEM.
The SLP right side could not get past the shift linkage. Removing the one nut made it pass and since the linkage has to much plastic I left it off for the install.
I didn't touch the sway bar.
Once I removed the bolts holding the H-pipe and got it out of the way, everything came a part nicely.
The OEM went on like perfectly and quickly without any cursing.
I will add this for hind sight.
If you remove your pipes, go ahead and replace the differential Oil.
It will be simple with the cans out of the way.
Then put the new exhaust on.
