Can someone explain this part?
Hello. I am looking at this corvette.
It is a 2008 model. I have owned a 2005 and a 2008 and
I don't rememember a yellow part in the engine compartment. This car has less than
10,000 miles on it. What is this?

My question should have been is this the original battery? I like to know if this car with less than 10,000 miles got a replacement? Were any stock batteries come from the factory with yellow tops?

This is a 2008 vert. I had a 2008 z06. Never looked at battery. I had a 2005 vert. Neither one had yellow tops. I simply want to know if any yellow top batteries came with these cars originally?

Yellow top batteries never came as original equipment
It's a replacement battery.
Could be lots of reasons for replacing a battery so soon. Only the owner who did it will know why.

The oem battery could be six years old by now...so it should be completely expected to see a replacement battery in that car...it would be more unusual to see the original battery in there.

Like others have stated, it's a Optima Yellow top battery. It is far far better than the stock battery. Consider it an upgrade.
