Is the Grand sport option worth it?
Looking at buying a 2013 and trying to decide between a base coupe with 2LT or a Grand Sport coupe with 2LT. Vehicle will be used for daily driving 8 months a year. No car shows or auto crossing. Is the Grand sport package really worth $6400.00 more. The base has the same HP and six speed with launch control and is more than 100 pounds lighter. I also feel that the slightly narrower tires would last longer and the base suspension would give a better ride.

Depends what you want in the looks dept, add up what it would cost to get the look and it's a bargain.
If you love the narrower body look then don't get the GS
Brakes alone will cost you $2,000 as for tires, before I did the widebody, my tires on the Z51 package lasted 13,000 miles,

let's see $6400 gets you Wide body, bigger wheels, z51 suspension, it's a GS, not a base coupe ... and all the GS friends on this forum. Hmmmm ... no brainer IMHO.

I have owned my Base for almost two months and 6,000 miles.
I love it for my daily driver.
I am not sure I would spend more money for looks.
The Base can do everything which I personally need.

No it is not worth the extra cost and you nailed all the reasons why in your post.

IMO it is. You'll spend more money in tires with it as a daily driver. Either one provides a comfortable drive.
Get the one that flips your skirt, as that is the most important aspect.

so I just traded in my 08 base coupe 3lt, npp and Z51 for my 13 Grand Sport.. While mine is not a true daily driver (work in NYC a lot) I drive it and had 29k miles when I traded it in. Personally I feel a difference between the 2 cars, the GS feels stiffer and a bit squattier (if that's a real word).. I like it a lot, but have lusted after the GS with the side gills (like my 65 coupe) since they first came out. I don't think you can go wrong either way, I just like the look of the GS better now.. Get what you like and will enjoy.. I'll be driving mine a lot just like you..

It's all about individual wants.
I like the way the GS looks, but am very happy with my strippo 1LT base coupe for an all weather daily driver.
This may sound weird, but driving a strippo C6 appeals to both sides of my personality - frugal and sporty/fast. 99% of the people out there cannot tell the difference between a base coupe and a ZR1. Seriously. Buy what makes you happy.

What are you, a cheerleader in a high school cafeteria? "You can't sit here unless you're just like us." I think you're greatly overestimating the value of internet acquaintances.

I just went through this myself and ended up with a normal coupe in favor of the GS. I like most of the look of the GS (the front fender gills just don't sit right with me for some reason), but whenever I see a GS my first thought is "Z06 without the power". Once I factored in what I plan to do with the car, spending the extra money now for parts that would likely be replaced later anyway, it was a no brainer.
Contrary to what a lot of owners want you to believe, the normal coupe is in no way a lesser car than the GS. It's just a different look/style that fits some folks better. Get what you want and rest assured that you will love the car, no matter the options.

The base car provides the same performance with the base styling and the wet sump engine.

I love the look of the GS and it as a lot of little performance upgrades. It could be worth the extra 6400 to some and not worth the extra money to others. Drive them both and see which one you prefer while being very similar they are also very different.
