After reading a post like this it's hard to believe so much anger can be generated over a mismatched brake caliper.
I'm glad it got resolved but, really, was there ever any doubt that it would?

Sorry to hear about the problem but they should fix it without question. Go for the black on your white vette.

Just a thought. You wonder how many other mismatched cars are made? How come we never hear about the GS that was built when they had a shortage of LS3's and just threw in an LS7 to keep the GS production line going?

Just looked at the "Corvette Black Book". Apparently, black calipers were never and option.

Just bought a '13 base 1LT coupe in Blade Silver with only the paddle shift option. The calipers are black with silver "corvette" lettering. Is this unusual?

Not if it has cross drilled brake rotors.

To the factory line worker apologists, please inform your perfect guy to vacuum the plastic shavings from the hatch strut arm install, make sure both rear compartments seal closed (not just sit all uneven) and do a better job aligning the hood gap before you knight them as champions of quality.

Guess I was spoiled with Australian QC last time through. The Canadian built Terrain we have is perfect also.

just checked my 2013 black base 2lt no drilled rotors bought 12/28/12 the front right is a darker gray almost black front left is a medium gray and both rears are lighter gray than the fronts.all things considered im not changing a thing, the calipers are painted at different times and the paint dosen't affect the stoping.also the red, yellow, and silver painted are glosy the gray /black is flat or matt

In 1995 I ordered a Pontiac Trans Am convertible. It was built in Canada and arrived at the dealer on the transporter with every panel misaligned (I happened to be there when they unloaded it). It spent a week in the body shop before the dealer would consider delivering it to me. The Canadians are no great shakes when it comes to producing a quality automobile.

I'm curious if there's a spec somewhere that says what color they should be. If non one can recall seeing black calipers, maybe they should be replaced with silver. I'm wondering if the calipers are of different size/specs???

I'm curious about a 2013 that arrived at a dealer in May 2012. Sounds like quite a trick.

I have black calibers on mine. I do have the cross-drilled brakes. I ordered brand new and picked up my car 3 weeks ago. I did hear the salesman say, my car was the first one he had seen with black without specifically ordering black as an option. I thought he was pulling my chain when I picked the car up. He told be lot's of C6's have come with yellow, red and silver but not black so he said....

After closer inspection with a shop light they are more of a dark gray/gray black primer-ish coating like post #47.

Pretty sure GMVIS says 05/12 delivery to dealer. Will have to check at home. VIN sequence one of the first 600.

FWIW, I LOVE the car dearly. Just not an out of control fanboi. More of an objective in control fanboi.

1995 was in... 1995. How many years ago is that?
But let us talk about the panel quality of 18 years ago and act like it is relevant to today's quality.

black calipers are available as a no-cost option on the Chevy Corvette website...but you need to also buy
cross-drilled brake rotors or MSRC !

OP doesn't have these options, so either a parts shortage at the factory when the car was built, or replaced
by the dealer afterwards...

As long as it was not a 427 or Anniversary Edition, which were put on a QC hold for couple weeks, it's not a trick. My 2013 427 was built on 05/02/12, and even with the 4 week QC hold, made it to Fichtner Chevy by 15 Jun. A regular base or GS vette would have no problem making it to dealer by the end of May.

Mistakes do happen. Its not a perfect world. Some people in the world get all bent out of shape when some mixups happen. Dont get stressed out. Glad its working out for you. Tomorrow will be a great day. Congrats on the new ride.

You might want to check out picture 4 in this thread.

And while at MacMulkin yesterday for an Adams detail clinic there was a 2013 red 2lt coupe with gloss black calipers, but no corvette raised letters.
