Default C6 Use

I used my C6 coupe, went to the grocery store. Normally I hate grocery shopping, loved the drive. Forum members say; drive your Corvette, that's great, but where to go? The rear hatch made loading groceries a snap. My car isn't a Garage Queen, drive it quite a bit all weekend long, not a lot of cumulative mileage though.

I've used my coupe more than once for moving small pieces of furniture, rubber mulch, and groceries all the time. It is surprising what you can carry in it with bungee cords; just keep the ventilation fan on high to prevent exhaust fumes from entering the passenger compartment.

In one of my previous C6s, carried several different size loads of groceries, couple of small pieces of furniture, including one that was so big I had to use bungee cords to hold the hatch down.

And being my DD, it does go to Kroger, Wal-Mart, Loew's, Krystal, Kmart, doctors' and dentists' offices.

However, I do make it a point not to go anywhere that it has to stay in a parking lot for more than 10-15 minutes except the doctor's and dentist's offices.

I once brought home a large chandelier in its box and had to drive with the hatch tied with a bungee cord...I also brought the two rear tires back home as well (and yes they fit with the hatch closed!)

My car sits in the garage, but's it's my daily driver, and we use it, rain or shine. Right now is shine, but rainy season is coming, so the umbrella going in the car.

My daughter is coming home on Thursday after living in Seoul, South Korea for a year and wants me to pick her up at the airport in the Vette. She has two huge bags which hopefully can fit in the rear, otherwise she will be taking the bus! It is surprisingly roomy back there so should be okay.

I drive my coupe to work once or twice a week. I often fill the back with cases of test equipment and tools. I put a rubber mat in the back so stuff doesn't slide around so much and the fascia protector keeps belt buckles and scuffs at bay. I love driving my Corvette on service calls!

Done this several times myself. Had 3 servers and a SAN array worth far more than the car (although all was unboxed) for a late night data center install.

Loaded the back with beer and water for my daughter's wedding (amazing how much you can fit back there!). 10 x 20lb bags of ice (different store run, same wedding).

Dog bed in the back and you can bring your buddies along anywhere:

We brought home a 6ft tall glass cabinet once with no problem. Slid it right between the two front seats to the dash, and the trunk closed no problem.

My vette is my drive to Costco and I'm shopping for a family of 5, so you know it is ALWAYS a large load - never a problem packing her full. First time I was shocked to see the amount of space in the cargo area. Love it! She goes everywhere I go!

I live out in the boonies of western sc,red clay is abundant and every time it rains, the mud truck guys have lots of fun in it.

This means they clear the tires on the road,so this last long rainy spell we had ,I was sick of driving my? old pickup and took the car to work...the next day I had to prep it for a date and spent a long time at the spray wash cleaning the mud out of the wheelwells and undercarriage.

It looked like I had gone stump jumping too..lol...I think it's staying home today...some sunshine is coming soon..really sick of winter...

Unless the item is so big I need to take the Suburban I put just about anything in the back of my coupe. I put some Lloyd's rubber mats in the hatch so that this time of year when my wife decides to buy a bunch of drippy plants or bags of garden supplies I am protected. I once brought home a new 27" tube type TV in its box and was still able to close the hatch. It is amazing what will fit! (Obvously mine is NOT a garage queen... )

I'll chime in on this. I bought my 05 a year ago as a replacement for my 07 TBSS...which was definitely a DD, but a gas hog of a DD. I put 14k on the Vette in the first 10 months I had it, it goes everywhere I do except the bar the one night a week that I bartend, or if I need to pull a trailer.

And after I saw the picture of the dog underneath the hatch...I've thought about doing that before, now I definitely will!
