Default Tire Pressure Sensor Readout Backwards

I got my 2006 about a month ago and just got around to adjusting the tire pressure so they all match. It seems as though the dashboard readout seems to have the left and right rear tires backwards. When I fill the left rear tire the dashboard readout shows an increase in tire pressure in the right tire and vice versa. The front tires are fine. Has anyone ever had this problem? Is there a reversal in pressure sensor connections somewhere that can be corrected? Thanks!

If your tires aren't directional, you can just swap the wheels. If your tires are directional then you have to reprogram and need a tpms tool. There is a specific order to go in while programming.

When they put on new tires, they accidentally switched the sensors...dumb mistake. They just need to be re-programmed, which a tire store can do. FYI, fill the tires using a good hand held gauge, don't use the DIC tire pressures..the system is just to let you know when a tire is low...not to accurately inflate them.

I agree with the above, if the tires are not directional, you could just switch left and right.

On a C6 you need a tpms tool to relearn the sensors. Dealer or tire shop should do it for you.

Sorry, Sean Mo I was posting at the same time you were.

Go to discount tire and tell them you need them reprogrammed. I wouldn't be surprised if they do it for free.

The tires are unidirectional so switching is not an option. I live in NJ if anyone in the area has a tool. So I guess the sensor is located in the rim.

The tool sells for $80 at Tire Rack. I'd just order the tool online and do the process myself. It is very very easy once you have the tool anyway.

I'm sure there is a forum member around you in NJ that would have a programming tool and will help you. Go to the local area of the forum and post up. If you were near me, you could come over and we could get it done in less than one minute.

Yep - they look like this:

Just go to the Tire Rack site to see several different TPMS tools with a range of prices. Just don't bother with that cheapo $42 one - I tried one and couldn't get it to trigger any C6 sensors:

http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/...toring+Systems

All TPMS tools will be used in the same manner as the one in the video below.

If you want one like in the video, I have a used KTi pst (the red tool in the picture below) for $135 shipped.

Bob

If you try to buy a wheel, it shows you the TPMS info and the tool:
