Welcome to the forum. First, the fob isn't going to have a thing to do with the door not opening when using the door buttons. Second, I'm curious at how you have been getting in and out if they don't work at all? It's got to be tough climbing out the passenger door?

The problem you are having is a bad touch pad. The are relatively inexpensive and you can get it at GM Partshouse. He is a FORUM sponsor. I had the same problem shortly after I got my 08. I got them in one day from Gene. It is a 45 second install. Or, you can try taking it apart and cleaning the contacts. Some forum members have done that with success. Use the search feature and look up the threads. Some have pictures. BUT, because of the low price of a NEW pad....I elected to replace it. Good Luck

I had a problem once where the button on the inside door wouldn't work. I popped off the piece around the button, and the electronics had separated from the button. But that wouldn't cause your outside door problem. A fuse?

I have replaced the touchpad few days ago and its still the same ...

blue bandit : the inside button works fine because whenever I press it, the window comes down, the door must be opened, but it shouldnt so it goes up again .. this just for seconds !!

Then I would check the wiring and the fuses. There must be a disconnect someplace between the touch pad and the power supply to it.

Check the door latch mechanism too. It's possible that some debris is making the latch stick, or that a little lube may let it move easier. Good luck.

Get some WD40 and spray the latch mechanism and open and close the door a few times then try the inside button again.

At this point it could be the actual solenoid that opens the door.

I'm thinking the culprit is likely the actuator which releases the latch. When you press the door button on the inside the the glass drops (sometimes called partial down [PD]) expecting the door to open. However, the latch is not releasing.

If I recall correctly the latch is on the frame of the car and the striker is on the door. With the door open take a screw driver and cycle the latch so the car thinks the door is closed (note, do not shut your door when the latch is closed!). Now try the touchpad and the door button. Try to listen for a mechanism moving. If nothing, then it's likely a bad actuator (as stated in the first line). If you do hear something, see the latch move a little bit, etc. then maybe the latch is stuck, or the cable to the latch has slipped off the actuator, etc.

Hope this has helped. Feel free to keep us posted about how this problem is coming along.

That really doesn't add to the plethora of information available to the rest of us. A PM is nice but I still don't know what to check if this situation ever happened to me.

Just sayin...

Sorry, wasnt trying to keep anything secret.

It happened to me when I had my 2005 coupe. Inside or outside pads not working. Got in touch with GM Customer Service on the forum. Took it to a dealer. Dealer replaced driver door actuator (it was bad). Gm paid for all except $100.
