It was probably a couple of weeks later that I thought.....OOPS should have gone for the 427 version. Same Anniversary package, stripes, etc. I guess if I'm going to take the hit, it would be better to do it sooner than later. We've always had coupes before and the only Vert I had was a '65 way back in '75.

It's not the need for more power, it's just because..... and I always wanted to own a "427".

Am I really that crazy? What to do, what to do.

Thoughts?
My first vett in 1970 was 427 convertible been wanting one since I got rid of it now have 2012 z06 wanted msrc or z07 could not afford. Tried to trade for z06 with just msrc but they would only give me 58000 on trade for 2013 my car was almost 88000. So I still have my 2012 z06 not going to give 15000 diff for one model year.

Go do some shopping. See what the cost will be. If you can still have the question, yes, you're crazy but you only go around once. Go for it. The government plan is to eliminate gasoline engines and that starts by eliminating anything that gets less than 50mpg.

If the money is no issue, and that is what you want then do it. Me I would enjoy the GS and wait for the C7 model I want.

It ain nothing but money.

Which means money isnt a problem. Or is a problem. Your bank account can answer this question, much better than any of us can.

Your money but realize when you drive off the salesman and sales manager are going to be bumping hips and giving high fives.

Here is my take on it. This isnt a 100,000 decision. its somewhere in the range of 20-30k I would guess. Go find the one you really want, negotiate on it, and find out. from there, decide if its makes sense to you. If its something you always want, it comes down to a difference of what 300 a month? how does that make you feel?

Its only money and you can't take it with you. So while your here you should be happy. If a 427 vert makes you happy than do it.

Until your old, retired, and don't have any.....

Life is a balancing act, save and spend. The question is how much to do of each so you dont end up broke when your old and unable to earn more.

If you bought your GS well and got an aggressive price on it, you may be surprised what it's worth on trade. I got a great price on my '09 coupe, had it for 2 years, and sold it to CarMax for 10% less than I paid for it new. Corvettes depreciate much more slowly when you don't overpay for them in the first place.

I sold mine because I was in a similar situation. After owning my car for a couple of years, I realized I should have held out for a GS or used Z06. So I bailed out of my car before its value really started to fall off.

If you can do so without financial hardship, get what you want and what makes you happy. You never know what tomorrow brings.

After only 2 months of ownership you want to trade-in your brand new Corvette for another new Corvette. You have "no need" or use for the extra power....you're just suddenly enamored with the idea of owning a 427. It's your money so do whatever makes you happy. That being said I think it's crazy.

Yep, you're nuts. ( You asked after all)
Or you have a significant case of OCD. Either way if you can afford it go ahead. Your money, your mental issues.
My bet is within about 6 months you will think something else is a better choice and then of course the C7 is coming out and well......

thanks for all the replies.....

We've decided to go ahead and make the switch to the 427 Vert.

I know..... I know..... pics, pics. We'll pick up the new on on Monday. Pics forthcoming.

Since there is no lien involved, it made it an easier decision.
Decided to suck it up and go for it... otherwise I would be second guessing for who knows how long.

Now, where to find a license plate bracket with something other than the "Grand Sport" currently on our GS ??? Anyone found one?

Gotta learn this whole Vert thing.......

Smart move. If you are like me, the GS would never be satisfactory as long as you had the desire for the 427 Vert. Not that the GS is a bad car. It's just not what you really want. I'm usually not satisfied until I get what I really want. And if I try to make myself satisfied with something else, I usually end up spending more $$$ than if I had just bought what I wanted to start with.
Enjoy
