You need to remove the outer tail light.
One screw in the top and the tail light falls right out.
Then you can reach in and get to the side marker light.
If you are just replacing the bulb, the socket/bulb just twists out.
If you are removing the entire assembly, there are two tabs that you squeeze, then the side marker pops out.

When you reach in, make sure you don't knock off the clip that your tail light screws into. Sometimes these are loose and will slide right off.
If you do lose it, it's a common little part that you can get at Autozone/etc.
