Default Need advice, LS7 Manifold and 3" H pipe

I just bought LS7 manifolds and LS7 3" H pipe for my LS2. I currently have Flow Master cat back. Will the H pipe mate up to my cat back system without modifications?

Yes it will need modification, step down from 3" to 2.5", any competent muffler shop should be able to make the connection....Or find a 3" catback and sell the flowmaster/

Thanks. Will a step down reduce the HP gains I'm seeking?

I dont believe it will make a bit of difference performance wise as the gasses are cooling and contracting by the time they get to the 2.5 step down.

Now if youre running FI with lots of boost a 3" all the way out may be beneficial

Another thing you may want to note and research is if you have an Auto trans it maybe a challenge fitting a 3" catback...And then you will want to make sure all 3" systems are created equal, I dont know if later model zo6 exhausts changed at all like c6 coupes did.

It may be easier and cheaper to adapt your current catback.

Also(i know), dont bother with any of it unless you plan on getting tuned or you will likely lose power.

That's correct about the gasses cooling, but it does make a difference for NA LS2/3 engines. The 2.5" from the H-pipe back actually increases power due to the flow velocity being maintained.
